Lectio vs Memorize

Lectio is a calm, guided way to learn Scripture — to understand each verse and carry it by heart. A few quiet minutes a day, no account needed. Inspired by "lectio divina," the ancient practice of slow, attentive reading, every lesson walks you through a verse the way a good teacher would: where it was spoken, who said it, what it means — and then, step by step, how to keep it. — LEARN, DON'T JUST MEMORIZE — • Meet each verse in its setting: speaker, context and meaning • Understanding questions with short explanations • Memory steps that build gently: fill the blanks, order the phrases, first letters, full recall • Listen to every verse read aloud • A moment to reflect and write, saved to your journal — REVIEW THAT REMEMBERS FOR YOU — Lectio schedules each verse to come back right before you would forget it, so what you learn stays learned. — A GUIDED PATH — Foundations: 60 essential verses in 10 units — free. LECTIO+ adds The Sermon on the Mount and Psalms of the Heart, with more to come. — BEAUTIFUL AND QUIET — Every unit is set on a public-domain masterpiece from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. No noise, no clutter. — ABOUT THE TRANSLATION — All Scripture is from the World English Bible (WEB), a modern public-domain translation. Read all 66 books anytime. — LECTIO+ — LECTIO+ unlocks every course, unlimited hearts, anytime practice of your weakest verses, and no ads. Memorize helps you truly learn the passages that matter — Bible verses, catechism answers, poems, quotes, or anything else you want to know by heart. Start by pasting a passage or typing one in. Then practice with as much or as little help as you need: • ENTIRE TEXT — read it until it's familiar • FIRST LETTERS — see just the first letter of each word as a prompt • HALF THE WORDS — first letters for a random half, blanks for the rest • FIRST + LAST — only the opening and closing words • BLANKS ONLY — one blank per word, all from memory • TYPE IT — type the passage and get instant word-by-word feedback, with optional hints when you're stuck Add a picture to any item — a photo of the page, a memory-book illustration, or anything that jogs your memory — and show it alongside any practice mode. EASY, MEDIUM, HARD Three presets let you dial difficulty up as you improve, and any item can keep its own custom settings. One tap returns everything to the session preset. ORGANIZE AND SHARE Group passages into lists, tag them (Sunday School, AWANA, family devotions…), and reorder them however you like. Share a whole list as a file that another Memorize user can import — perfect for teachers and parents. TRACK PROGRESS See how many times you've typed each passage correctly and which words trip you up most. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your lists live on your device and sync through your personal iCloud account. No accounts to create, no ads, no tracking. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart…" — Psalm 119:11
