Know how your flight will go before you board. Flying forecasts turbulence along your route, shows your seat on the cabin map, and tells you how long the security line is. Plus fast delay and gate alerts, Live Activities, and a logbook of every flight you take. Simple when everything is on time. Helpful when it isn't. TURBULENCE FORECASTS • See where the ride might get bumpy, how strong it should be, when it starts, and how long it lasts. • Compare the altitudes above and below your cruising level. Flying points it out when a nearby level looks smoother. • See turbulence that pilots actually reported near your route, across North America. • Know when thunderstorms are near your route, how close you'll pass, and which way they're moving, with weather radar on the same map. • Forecasts cover flights worldwide, are usually ready about a day before departure, and are tuned to the size of your plane. • Built on NOAA forecasts and official aviation advisories. When data is missing, Flying says so instead of guessing. SEAT MAPS • See your seat on the cabin layout for your flight, deck by deck. • Color-coded seat ratings show the better and worse seats at a glance. • Check each seat's pitch, width, recline, and bed length, plus power and Wi-Fi. SECURITY LINES AND AIRPORT STATUS • Check typical security waits at US airports for the day and hour you fly, including TSA PreCheck and CLEAR lines. • See live security waits at select major US airports, plus customs wait times. • See delays and disruptions at airports worldwide, with departures and arrivals tracked separately. • Know why you're waiting. FAA ground stops and delay programs are explained in plain English, with local times. • Read airport weather in plain language, with raw METAR and TAF for pilots. STAY AHEAD OF YOUR FLIGHT • Get fast alerts for delays, gate changes, and takeoffs on your Lock Screen. • Follow your flight in Live Activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, with the landing countdown, gate, and delays always up to date. • Track the plane flying in to operate your flight, and get a warning when it's running late. • See how often your flight arrives on time. • If your flight diverts, see where you landed and the onward flight that gets you the rest of the way. • Lose your connection and Flying keeps estimating your flight's progress. On in-flight Wi-Fi, updates can keep arriving. YOUR LOGBOOK • Save every flight you take, including past trips, and build a complete record of where you've been. • Add flights automatically from your calendar, or forward your booking confirmation emails. • See your distance, flights, time in the air, and countries visited, charted year by year. • Map every route you've flown, along with the airlines, airports, and aircraft you fly most. • Keep your booking code, seat, and notes with each flight, and see how many times you've flown that route or even that exact plane. • Find any flight by typing what you remember. FLY WITH FRIENDS • Follow your friends' flights as they happen, so you know exactly when to be at arrivals. • Share any flight with a link so family can follow along from takeoff to touchdown. • Compete on the leaderboard for flights, miles, time in the air, airports, countries, and airlines. EXPLORE • Check any airport's status, live traffic, and weather. • See how each airline is running today, from on-time departures to cancellations. • Browse airline fleets with each aircraft's type, age, and first flight. Flying works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. FLYING PRO Flying Pro adds turbulence forecasts, seat maps, Live Activities, inbound flight tracking, Find My Aircraft, arrival forecasts, weather radar, calendar sync, flight imports, and past flights. Your flight, from the moment you leave the house to the baggage belt at your destination. Every aircraft beautifully presented in the map. Avoid the constant hunt for info screens at the airport. Gate, times and changes are right on your phone, and the app tells you when something changes. At Avinor's airports in Norway, gate and baggage belt come from the same source as the screens in the hall. If something goes wrong, it keeps constant track of what you are entitled to, and guides you through claiming it with ease. MY FLIGHT • Search a flight number, a route or an airline, and add it as My Flight. • Gate, terminal, check-in desk and times on one card, with a Live Activity and a Lock Screen widget. • Notifications you choose: go to gate, gate change, delay, boarding, gate closing, cancellation and baggage on the belt. Worked out on your iPhone, with no account. • Leaving from a Norwegian airport: the expected security wait, and the reclaim belt when you land. WHEN THE FLIGHT GOES WRONG • Delayed or cancelled: what changed, and when the app last checked. • Your rights on that route, in plain language. EU261, UK261 and the national rules of 18 more countries, including Canada, the United States, Brazil, Türkiye and India. • A claim letter to the airline, filled in from what the app already knows. It opens in your own mail app and goes to the airline's own published address. We fill in the form. We are not a claims agency, and we take no fee and no cut. • Where to complain on that route, when the airline says no. • Damaged or delayed bag: the deadline that applies to you, the nearest service desk on the airport map, and every detail the airline's form asks for, ready to paste. BAGGAGE • Published allowances and fees for more than 100 airlines, by fare type: cabin bag, checked bags, extra pieces and overweight. • Allowances also depend on your ticket and status. The app says so, every time. AIRPORTS • Departures and arrivals for any airport you search or tap. • At Norwegian and Nordic airports: gate, belt, check-in desk and live status from Avinor's official feed. • Airport maps with surveyed gates and stands, and a walking estimate to your gate in distance and minutes. One tap hands over to Apple Maps. It is an estimate, not indoor turn-by-turn. LIVE RADAR • Live aircraft on a calm map, worldwide. • Tap a plane: a rendered aircraft in the airline's own colors where we have them, real photos credited to the photographer, the route, and schedule and gate. • Aircraft in view: every aircraft on screen as a list, with a page for each type. • Overhead: what is passing above you right now. • Live precipitation radar over the map. PRIVACY No ads. No account. No tracking. Your location centers the map and measures the walk to your gate. Your exact position never leaves your device. SUBSCRIPTION AirwayControl requires a subscription. One auto-renewable subscription unlocks the whole app. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial; after that it renews monthly at the price shown in the App Store for your country. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically every month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in Settings. Gate, belt, check-in desk and security wait are deepest at Nordic airports; elsewhere you get boards, gate and terminal where published, and the live map. Rights information is information, not legal advice. Live data needs a connection. CREDITS Full credits for data, maps and photos: airwaycontrol.intelsystems.ai/credits

Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Flying at freemium against AirwayControl's subscription. Flying also leads on ratings volume (7 vs 1). AirwayControl's advantage is iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Flying sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and AirwayControl sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Flying against 5.0 for AirwayControl. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flying has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
Flying ships an update every 4 days, AirwayControl every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
