About

CitizenLens

Features

CitizenLens is a citizen-built civic accountability platform for India. When government channels are slow or opaque, CitizenLens gives citizens the tools to act together β€” document civic issues, draft RTI applications, contact the right authority, and amplify on Twitter and WhatsApp to build public pressure for resolution. CitizenLens is independent β€” not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any government entity, ministry, municipal body, or public authority in India. All authority, road, signboard, and traffic-violation data shown in the app is community-compiled by citizens themselves, curated from publicly-available sources (government websites, news archives, press releases, RTI responses, and direct citizen submissions across 46 Indian cities), and clearly labelled "Community." The app also links out to public complaint, RTI, and grievance portals so citizens can file or verify with the relevant authority directly. Public portal directory: https://citizenlens-in.vercel.app/legal/portals.html HOW THE COMMUNITY MODEL WORKS - Every entry β€” seed reference data or freshly contributed β€” carries a "Community" badge so you always know where it came from - Any citizen can flag an entry as incorrect, outdated, or misleading; flagged entries are clearly marked - Other citizens vote to confirm or dispute flags, so corrections propagate quickly - Citizens contribute new authority contacts, road conditions, signboard scans, and traffic-violation reports β€” local accuracy comes from local citizens KEY FEATURES Document Civic Issues - Snap a photo, capture the location, and draft a complaint in under 2 minutes - 15 categories: potholes, garbage, drainage, streetlights, footpaths, traffic signals, water supply, parks, bus stops, railway issues, metro issues, stray animals, encroachment, noise pollution, and more - AI-assisted categorization helps you draft accurate descriptions Track & Follow Up - Status updates on complaints you've filed - Reminder nudges at 7, 14, and 21 days so things don't go cold - Suggested escalation channels for each authority (Twitter, WhatsApp, email, the relevant public portal) Share & Amplify - One-tap sharing to Twitter and WhatsApp - Auto-drafted escalation tweets you can review and post from your own account - Public pressure works β€” the more citizens see and amplify, the harder issues are to ignore Community Accountability - Contribute and flag authority contacts, road conditions, signboard scans, and traffic-violation reports - See what civic problems are trending in your city Public Portals & Resources - Direct links to public complaint, RTI, grievance, and transport portals so you can file or verify with the authority directly - Full directory: https://citizenlens-in.vercel.app/legal/portals.html Built for India - English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu - Phone number / social login β€” no email required - Compliant with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 DISCLAIMER CitizenLens is an independent civic-tech tool. It does not represent, replace, or facilitate any official government service. When you escalate (Twitter, WhatsApp, email, eChallan, RTI), the message goes through your own apps β€” you stay in control of what gets sent. CitizenLens does not guarantee resolution or response from any authority, nor accuracy of any community-compiled entry. Public portal directory: https://citizenlens-in.vercel.app/legal/portals.html
