Most metronomes just count. RhythmForge listens back. Play along to the beat and the app hears you in real time. Every hit is measured, every drift is shown, every session tells you exactly where your timing is strong and where it's not. Your phone becomes a practice coach. HOW IT WORKS Pick a challenge. Set your tempo. Play. RhythmForge scores every beat across six accuracy tiers — Perfect, Great, Good, Okay, Weak, Missed. Build combos with consecutive Perfects for bonus points. Beat your personal best. See exactly where you rushed or dragged. 63 built-in challenges spanning rudiments (singles, doubles, paradiddles, rolls, gallops), grooves, world rhythms (tresillo, son clave, rumba, cáscara, mozambique, bossa nova, samba, baião, bembé), compound and odd meters, and odd subdivisions. From first-week beginner to serious drummer. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • Real-time onset detection — the app hears your strokes and scores them instantly • Six-tier accuracy grading based on millisecond timing • Combo multipliers and personal-best tracking that make practice addictive • Rushing / dragging analysis per session — know your tendencies • Timing precision scatter plot and beat distribution charts • Per-device latency calibration that auto-corrects AirPods drift • Works with drum pads, snare, hand percussion, claves, djembe • 20–360 BPM, all standard subdivisions, accents • Hold the tempo to type it, tap it, or slide a ruler • True dark-first design, optimized for OLED FREE FOREVER • Full metronome — every subdivision, tempo ramp, ghost measures • Every click sound • Unlimited free practice with live timing feedback • Assist: playing a different part than the click? If it slips for two bars, the click steps back and your notes play until you're back on track. Those bars stay out of your accuracy • Every analysis screen, unblurred — distribution, precision, rushing and dragging • Every challenge in the library, playable. Nothing is locked • 6 minutes of challenge time a day, spent on whatever you choose • Your last 7 sessions No challenge is behind the subscription. What's metered is time: 6 minutes a day, topping back up as the day goes — four times faster while you're practicing. Run out and any challenge still gives you a free 25-second run, as many as you like. Tempo ramp and ghost measures are premium features in competing apps. Here they're free, forever. The metronome you'd pay for, included. RHYTHMFORGE PRO Unlock everything with a 7-day free trial: • Unlimited challenge time — the meter disappears • Pattern builder — create your own rhythms, loop them, score them • Triplet and sixteenth targets — play any subdivision over any click • Per-beat pattern editing • Full session history, unlimited FOR WHO Drummers. Percussionists. Guitarists who play rhythmically. Music students. Teachers. Anyone who knows that timing is the foundation of everything musical — and wants to actually measure where theirs stands. Microphone permission required for timing feedback. Terms of Service: https://rhythmforge.app/terms

About

Rudimentalist

Features

Rudimentalist is a practice tool for drummers working through the PAS rudiments – from singles and paradiddles to flams, drags, and rolls. Set a tempo, tap start, and play. The app listens through your microphone, scores every hit against the metronome, and tells you exactly where the timing slipped – to the millisecond. No recordings. No accounts. No uploads. Audio is analyzed on-device in real time and discarded immediately. WHAT YOU GET • 39 of the Percussive Arts Society's 40 rudiments – singles, doubles, paradiddles, flams, drags, and rolls – organized by family. The buzz roll is coming in a future update. • Grace-note scoring: the app hears the grace strokes in your flams and drags and scores them too. • Live per-hit timing feedback in milliseconds, with on-time / near-miss / missed colors so you can read the screen and fix the hand without breaking tempo. • A drift label that tells you whether you are consistently rushing or dragging, plus a running session accuracy percentage. • Adjustable tempo and session length so you can drill a phrase or run an exercise end-to-end. • Demo: watch animated sticks play any rudiment on left/right hand pads before you practice – change the tempo live, anywhere from 40 to 200 BPM, with count-in and loop. • Simple R/L notation with hand-colored boxes by default, plus a how-to-play card on every exercise – switch to full notation anytime. • A session results screen that summarizes accuracy and drift across the patterns you played. • Free to try. Rudimentalist Pro unlocks everything with a one-time lifetime purchase (Family Sharing supported) or a time-limited Pro Pass – no auto-renewing subscriptions. AUTOMATIC TIMING Every device and every audio route – speaker, wired, or Bluetooth headphones – has its own latency. Rudimentalist measures it and keeps adjusting as you play, separately for each route, so the score reflects your playing, not your hardware. There is no calibration step. Changed your setup? Use Settings → Reset timing. PRIVACY BY DESIGN The microphone is the only sensor used, and the audio never leaves the device. No analytics SDK, no crash-reporting upload, no network permission requested. The app works fully offline. WHO IT IS FOR • Drummers who want to know whether they are actually on the click, not just close to it. • Students working through a method book or a teacher's rudiment list. • Returning players rebuilding consistency. • Anyone who has ever wondered "am I rushing?" and wanted a real answer. ABOUT THE DEVELOPER Built by a drummer and app developer with a long-running passion for learning, playing, and teaching drumming. Rudimentalist is a small, independent app from Potens Music Limited. If you have feedback or run into issues, the support link below reaches the developer directly. REQUIREMENTS • A microphone – built-in is fine; an external mic gives sharper detection on a kit. • Quiet-ish surroundings or a practice pad for clearest hit detection. • Headphones recommended – through the speaker, the click can reach the mic. • iPhone or iPad on iOS 17 or later.
