It is signal-based, not GPS-based — perfect for finding devices in a room, but it doesn't pinpoint exact coordinates. The closer you get, the stronger the signal and the louder the alerts. Devices that aren't broadcasting (such as AirPods inside a closed charging case, or devices that are powered off or out of battery) cannot be detected.
