Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Dicebound at none against Medieval's shown. Dicebound also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). Medieval's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 6 days). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dicebound sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Medieval sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Medieval holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dicebound has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Dicebound ships an update every 6 days, Medieval every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
