AuraRead vs ThusRead

AuraRead is a local-first eBook reader built for deep reading. Your library, notes and progress stay on your device — no account, no cloud upload, total privacy. Supports TXT, EPUB, MOBI, PDF, CBZ, CBR, AZW3 and more. Just drop a book in and start reading. STUNNING READ-ALOUD Beyond built-in system voices, import offline AI speech engines (VITS, MeloTTS, Matcha-TTS, Kokoro, ZipVoice and more) — fully local synthesis that works offline. Sentence-by-sentence highlight follow-along, adjustable speed and pitch, sleep timer. Control playback from the Lock Screen and Control Center. PICTURE-IN-PICTURE FOLLOW-ALONG Turn on Picture-in-Picture while listening: a floating window shows the current sentence and a preview of the next one. Switch apps, go home, lock your phone — narration and text keep going. LIVE ACTIVITIES & DYNAMIC ISLAND Reading and narration status live on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island: progress, chapter, page and the sentence being read, one tap away. IMMERSIVE READING A page-curl animation that feels like paper, plus scroll and slide modes. Volume-key paging is deeply adapted for iOS: rapid presses are responsive, direction is mirrored to your liking, and volume auto-recenters near the limits so paging never stalls. Auto page-turning frees your hands. A SHELF THAT'S YOURS Browse your library in a 3D CoverFlow view with two-way list linkage, or the classic grid. Organize with categories, tags and folders. A private shelf keeps sensitive books behind Face ID. HOME SCREEN WIDGETS Continue reading and turn pages right from widgets in multiple sizes — always in sync with the app. DEEP TYPOGRAPHY Fine-tune font size, line height, margins, paragraph spacing and fonts. Curated Chinese typefaces, custom backgrounds, light and dark themes for comfortable night reading. NOTES & BOOKMARKS Highlight, annotate and bookmark as you read, with a unified notes manager. SYNC & IMPORT iCloud sync and KOSync progress sync. Import from WebDAV, SMB, Calibre or the web in one tap — your library travels with you. READING STATS Daily time, goals, speed and lifetime totals help you build the habit. AuraRead keeps evolving to make every book better.
