Private Camera
Read full descriptionHide full description
A private camera and video vault in one app. Record personal videos, import photos and videos, and keep your media separate from your everyday gallery. Start without creating an account or providing an email. RECORD STRAIGHT TO YOUR VAULT Use the front or rear camera with simple recording controls. Keep recording sessions together on your device, then return to the camera when you finish. A CALCULATOR WITH A PURPOSE Use a working retro calculator with currency and unit conversion. Enter your app PIN to unlock the camera and your private media tools. DIFFERENT PASSWORDS, DIFFERENT VAULTS Your app PIN unlocks the calculator screen. Your master password opens all your vaults. A custom vault password opens its matching recordings, so you can keep different collections separate. Keep your passwords somewhere safe. IMPORT AND ORGANIZE Bring existing photos and videos into a password-protected vault from your gallery or the file chooser. Imported originals stay in their original location until you remove them yourself. QUICK VIDEO EDITS Open a clip from your vault to trim it, change playback speed, rotate it or mute its sound. Save an edited copy and keep the original. PASSWORD-PROTECTED FILE SHARING Choose Share Encrypted File to create a download link with a separate file password. Links expire after 30 days. Anyone with the link can download the encrypted file; the password is needed to open its contents. Share the password separately. Ordinary sharing remains a separate option. CLEAR PRIVACY CONTROLS Review backup settings before recording. Camera and microphone permissions are required, and system privacy indicators remain visible. Dark-screen mode is an in-app view, not a promise of recording while your phone is locked. Record only with permission and respect other people's privacy. Some features depend on your device and plan. See the privacy policy for storage, backup and sharing details.

Retro palettes and pixel patterns, rendered live. No editing after the shot โ what you see in the viewfinder is what gets saved. LIVE PIXEL RENDERING Paignion runs a real Metal pixel-effect pipeline on every frame of the live camera feed โ palette quantization, pattern, and dithering all happen before you tap the shutter, not as a filter applied afterward. 6 ICONIC PALETTES * Game Boy โ the classic 4-shade green handheld display * NES โ the 64-color palette from the original console's PPU * PICO-8 โ the 16-color fantasy-console system palette * C64 โ the Commodore 64's Pepto palette * CGA โ the 16-color RGBI palette from early PC graphics * Master System โ Sega's full 64-color, 6-bit RGB palette Palettes work on their own, or paired with any pattern. 4 PATTERNS + REAL BAYER DITHERING * Mosaic โ chunky, blocky pixelation * Dot Screen โ a single-channel dot grid * Halftone โ a true CMY halftone rosette (three independently rotated ink-channel dot grids), full color or on a palette * Blocks โ every pixel cell becomes a beveled, raised block for a chunky 2.5D, voxel-style look * Authentic ordered (Bayer) dithering, not a random-noise approximation โ works with any palette, and it's never gated SCREEN FX Two screen finishes that turn the viewfinder into a tiny console display: CRT-style scanlines, and an LCD pixel-grid bezel overlay. FREE TO START Shoot with the Original (no filter), Game Boy Cam, and Mosaic Only presets at no cost โ Bayer dithering is included free with every palette, always. Full Unlock adds the NES, PICO-8, C64, CGA, and Master System palettes, the Dot Screen, Halftone, and Blocks patterns, and both Screen FX finishes โ a single one-time purchase, not a subscription. EVERYTHING ELSE YOU'D EXPECT * Pinch to zoom, tap to focus * HEIF capture, saved straight to a dedicated "Paignion" album in your Photos library โ no separate account, no cloud * In-app gallery to browse, share, and delete your shots * The preset you shot with is written into every photo's own EXIF No ads. No tracking.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Private Camera at none against Paignion's 1. Private Camera also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.6). Paignion's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
