Sun protection is personal. Aura helps you plan sunscreen reapplication around the conditions you are actually in. It combines the current and forecast UV index with your self-reported skin type, SPF, and activity to create an easy-to-follow timer. PLAN AROUND LIVE UV Use your location to see current and upcoming UV conditions, or choose a UV value manually when you prefer not to share location. MAKE THE TIMER YOURS Choose your Fitzpatrick skin type, sunscreen SPF, and what you are doing outside. Swimming, exercise, water, and sweat can shorten the suggested interval. FOLLOW THE TIMER ANYWHERE Keep the countdown visible with a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Optional local notifications can remind you when the timer ends. OPTIONAL TAN MODE Aura includes a sunset-capped session timer for people who choose Tan mode. UV tanning is not risk-free, and Aura never marks exposure as safe. BUILT FOR FOCUS Aura does not require an account. The calm, uncluttered interface keeps the forecast, remaining time, and next action easy to find. Aura provides estimates based on forecast data and the details you select. It does not measure UV exposure, guarantee protection, prevent sunburn, or provide medical advice. Always follow sunscreen directions and use shade, clothing, and other sun-protection measures.
UVSun

Know how much safe sun you have left today - personalized to your skin, and honest about it. UVSun reads the UV index for exactly where you are and turns it into a personal daily safe-sun budget: an amount set by your skin type that sunlight spends and sunscreen slows. Instead of a vague guess, you get a clear number - and UVSun shows its work. WHY UVSUN IS DIFFERENT - It shows its work. See your remaining safe-sun time, how much of your daily dose you have used, and how fast you are spending it - not a black-box countdown. The budget is set with a safety margin, on purpose. - Honest about sunscreen. When you log SPF, UVSun credits realistic in-use protection and then eases off its assumption over time - it reminds you to reapply instead of pretending the sunscreen lasts forever. - It keeps up with the sun. A session re-rates as the sun climbs and as your sunscreen ages, so the number actually moves - it never freezes at what it said when you started. - Backed by real science. A Science page cites peer-reviewed sun-safety research and is upfront about what the evidence does and does not show. HOW IT WORKS - Allow location and UVSun looks up the UV index for where you are, with your place name. - Do a quick skin-type check - a private camera color scan or a short quiz reads your eye, skin, and hair color to estimate your Fitzpatrick type (I-VI). - Watch your remaining safe-sun time and daily dose budget update through the day. - Tap "I'm in the sun" to track a session, and get a shade heads-up before you overdo it plus a reminder to reapply sunscreen. WHAT'S INSIDE - The current UV index for your exact location, with place name - Personalized safe-sun time and a daily dose budget by skin type - Skin-type estimate from a private camera color scan or a quick quiz - SPF-aware timing with honest reapply reminders - Sun sessions with history and weekly stats - A whole-day, hour-by-hour UV forecast in WHO color bands, with a "now" marker to plan around the peak - Shade, reapply, and "UV is climbing" alerts - A Science page citing peer-reviewed sun-safety research - 10 languages, works offline with your last reading, colorblind-safe UV labels PRIVATE BY DESIGN - No account, no sign-up, no cloud. - Your location is used only to look up the UV index and your place name - never for ads, and never shared with advertisers. - Your skin-scan photo is never saved or uploaded. UVSun is ad-supported. A one-time purchase removes all ads - every feature is available either way. UV data by currentuvindex.com (CC BY 4.0). UVSun provides general wellness information, not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, including skin cancer. Burn-time estimates are approximations - when in doubt, seek shade. Consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Aura at none against UVSun's 1. Aura also leads on ads (none vs shown). UVSun's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
