The New Testament was written by the oppressed, for the oppressed. Most translations buried that. Welcome to the Liberation & Inclusion Translation — a New Testament translated directly from the Greek by Brandon Vélez Johnson, a therapist and theologian who reads scripture from the perspective of those it was written to liberate. No jargon where the Greek didn't use jargon. No shame where Jesus didn't deal in shame. A God who looks like Jesus, throughout. It's free. It's offline-first. It requires no account. And it's built to be read. THE TRANSLATION — The New Testament, translated with faithfulness to the Greek and the people it speaks to most — Footnotes from the translator, inline as you read — Glossary of the biggest word changes and a guide to the Translation Commitments THE APP — Read entire books in a continuous scroll, not tapping through chapter by chapter — Hide verse & chapter numbers and footnotes to focus on the literature — Share your hot take on a passage with cards hand-rolled for social media — Highlight passages, take notes in the margins, sync both between iPhone and iPad — Easily follow lectionary readings for the upcoming Saturday & select feast days. — Accent color changes with the church calendar, or pick your own Supported by voluntary donations to the Liberating Scripture Collective. Every word stays free, and ad-free.

Firstlight Bible is for people who take notes in church and never read them again. Record the sermon. Type while you listen — every line you write is stamped to the moment it was said, so a half-finished thought can be played back in the preacher's own voice a week later. When it ends, your iPhone writes the summary: the thesis, the outline, the passages named, and what to do about it. Your recordings never leave your phone. Transcription happens on the iPhone itself, and the audio stays there. The written parts — the summary, the coach, the devotions — are written by Claude. There is no account and no sign-in, and nobody at this end reads what you wrote. READ • Nine translations free to read offline, King James and Berean Standard among them • Highlight, bookmark, and hold your place in several chapters at once • Compare a verse across translations • Thirty more over a connection, New King James and New Living among them RECORD • On-device transcription, with speakers separated and named — name a voice once and it is found later • Recordings are carried by your iCloud account — reinstalling does not lose them NOTES • One note whether you record or not — the microphone is optional • Type a passage reference and verses drop straight into the note • Scan the bulletin, mark it up, keep it with the gathering — its words are read on-device and feed the summary KEEP • Notes, highlights, recordings, and prayers sync through your iCloud • Organize by gathering — Sunday service, Bible study, or one you name • Search across scripture, your notes, and what was said out loud • Share any note, summary, or devotion as plain Markdown • Siri: add a prayer request, open a passage, ask the coach, start recording ASK • A study coach that answers from the passage and your notes • Or talk something through — a hard week, a decision — answered within your tradition, in plain English, with references you can look up yourself • It asks before it advises, and hands down no verdicts • Ask about any verse from the reader without losing your place DEVOTIONS • A week of devotions from your own notes, prayers and recordings, inside the tradition you choose • Or request any length up to a year, laid out day by day: "a 30-day couples devotion" • Each series adjusts when life does: miss a day and ask it to shift the rest along • Five minutes or an hour, the same day PRAY • Requests spoken aloud in a gathering land automatically on your list • Grouped by person — multiple requests read as lines under one name • Note what happened underneath each one, and tick it off when answered • Pray through the list one person at a time, thanks first, in large type SUBSCRIPTION Firstlight Bible requires a subscription. It includes a monthly allowance of generated writing — enough for a normal month — and covers your Family Sharing group. Current pricing is shown in the app and on the App Store page. Charged to your Apple Account, renews until cancelled, cancel anytime in Settings. If a month runs heavy you can add more writing as a one-off purchase. What you add never expires. A NOTE ON THE AI The coach, devotions and summaries are written by Claude, and generated writing can be confidently wrong. Read the passage yourself, and check anything you intend to act on or teach. When you talk something through it is a thoughtful reader and nothing more — not a counsellor, not your pastor, and not someone who knows you. It will not tell you what to do about a marriage, a job, a diagnosis, money, the law or your medication. If something is urgent, it will say so plainly and tell you to talk to a person today. Reading, notes, highlights, recording, transcription, scanning, and search work offline. Only generated writing needs a connection. Scripture is drawn from public-domain editions; full credits and licences are in the app under About Firstlight Bible.
