About

Video Upscale

Features

Every video upscaler makes the same promise and breaks it the same way. You import a 480p tape transfer, wait, export a 4K file, and see no difference, because making a picture bigger cannot put back detail that was never recorded, and because none of those apps fix what actually makes old footage look old. Video Upscale treats old family video as a restoration problem, not a resizing problem. WHAT IT FIXES • Jerky, combed motion. Interlaced tape holds 59.94 real moments per second. Video Upscale recovers them from the tape instead of inventing new ones. • Dot crawl and rainbow shimmer left behind by composite captures. • Colour that has faded, and colour that bleeds past the edges of things. • The torn band along the bottom of VHS frames, masked and filled rather than cropped away. • Grain in the picture and blotches in the colour, reduced separately. • Handheld shake, smoothed so a pan stays a pan. • Pictures that display at the wrong shape. A 4:3 tape stays 4:3. THE SOUND STAYS AS IT WAS Video Upscale never strips the audio and never adds sound to a clip that had none. By default the audio is copied across untouched. If it finds mains hum, tape hiss, sound in only one channel or a level that is badly off, it tells you, and with Pro you can choose to repair it. IT TELLS YOU THE TRUTH Video Upscale measures how much real detail your footage carries and says so. If a tape holds about 240 real lines, it will tell you 1080p is the honest choice and that 4K would be a bigger file, not a better picture. You can still choose 4K. You just won't be surprised by the result. NOTHING IS UPLOADED No server, no account, no analytics. Restoring happens on your device, and your original file is never changed, moved or deleted. LONG VIDEOS ARE WELCOME A twenty-minute tape is what this was built for. If your device gets hot, the restore saves its place, pauses, and carries on when it cools down, and it tells you when that is happening. WHAT'S FREE Restore clips up to 3 minutes long at 1080p, as many as you like. No watermark. No ads. The sound is always kept. VIDEO UPSCALE PRO Any length. 4K and 8K where your device and your footage support it. The whole queue at once. Repair the sound: mains hum, tape hiss, one-sided audio and level. Save any frame as a full-resolution photo. Apply one clip's settings to your whole library. Stronger stabilisation. A ProRes 422 HQ master for editing. Choose a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, or pay once for Lifetime. There is no free trial. No credits, no tokens, no ads. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings at any time after purchase.
