▶ Awarded in German ELTERN family magazine’s GIGA-Maus 2013 as "Best Learning Game" in the category "Kids from 4 to 6 years old" ▶ Awarded "Best Children Apps" 2013 in the category "Pre-School Apps" ▶ TOP #1 Education app for children in the German App Store ▶ Amusing monsters make learning letters enormous fun ▶ Perfect for children entering school and those who can’t wait for school to start ▶ The highly popular children’s app Monster ABC is now available in English! Monster ABC guides your child in a really fun way through the process of literacy acquisition. It helps children get to grips with letters and the initial sound of words in the best way possible. WHAT IS AN INITIAL SOUND? Today, little ones use initial sounds to navigate the first stages of literacy acquisition. An initial sound is the first sound of a word and is represented by a letter or a letter combination (like “mm” in the word “mouse” and “sh” in the word “sheep”). Children learn how to make out the initial sound of a word and match it to a letter. FEATURES • Learn letters based on initial sounds • Audio-visual interaction makes learning fun • Words and letters are spoken when tapped • Feedback spoken in a voice perfect for kids • English and German version included • English spoken with a charming British accent • Motivating reward system • Lovingly hand-drawn pictures and amusing sounds • Get to know the monsters Max, Bob, Sally and the rest of the gang! • Increasing level of difficulty • Full initial-sound table available to download free of charge How does Monster ABC support literacy acquisition? • The app helps children to learn letters and the sound they make in a fun way by using pictures. Each picture represents a word whose initial sound must be matched to the corresponding letter. If the initial sound and letter match, your child will enjoy a true sense of achievement. In doing so, the child easily recognizes the correct combination of initial sound and letter. The learning process is supported interactively with visualizations and sounds that are perfect for children. • In addition, a free-of-charge initial-sound table, featuring pictures and their matching initial sounds from Monster ABC, can be downloaded from the wonderkind website: https://s3.amazonaws.com/wk-anlaute/wonderkind_initial_sound_table.pdf • Monster ABC was developed together with grandparents, parents, and kids, taking into account professional pedagogical and linguistic considerations. This is a feature-identical version of the Text Simplifier app for the AppStore for Volume Licenses (VPP), without in-app purchases but with more inclusive text simplifications. You're facing difficult texts and wish they were easier to understand? This app is exactly what you need! Whether in inclusive education, for beginning readers, or for anyone who appreciates clear and understandable language - with just one click, complicated becomes simple. The Text Simplifier app makes difficult texts easier. Then the texts are easier to read and understand. And if you need help reading, the app can also read words to you. To do this, just follow along under the words with your finger. This app is for people with reading difficulties or beginning readers. It can also be very helpful in inclusive classroom instruction. There are then fewer barriers due to difficult texts. You have several options for simplifying texts: 1. Enter text: You can write a text, speak (dictate) or copy from another source. When you press the "Simplify Text" button, the text becomes simpler. 2. Take a picture of a text: You can take a photo of a text, for example from a book or worksheet. Then the app can read you the text or simplify it. 3. Internet texts: If you are reading on the internet and want a simpler text, just press the "Simplify Texts" button. The app is actually very suitable for children and beginning readers, but due to the integrated browser, Apple recommends it only from age 17+, as any web page can be accessed. The app can do even more: - The app can read along with you. For this you have to use your reading finger. Move your finger along under the text as you read. And turn on the speaker. The app will then help you read. - The app can also read the entire text to you. If you want, the words are even highlighted as they are read. - You can long press on a word if you don't understand it. An explanation will then be displayed and read aloud (please turn on speaker). - You can make the letters bigger or smaller. - You can decide how simple the text should be. This is done in the settings. - Web pages can be displayed in "Reader Mode". Only the text and images are shown (without text simplification). Ads and menus are not shown. ## Tip: How to improve the voice! ## The iOS voice sometimes doesn't sound very good. You can simply use a different voice. To do this, go to the "Settings" app. Then to "Accessibility". Then select "Spoken Content" and then "Voices". Now you can select and download other voices. The enhanced voices sound especially good. ## Privacy ## Texts are processed on a server in the EU under European law. They are stored only briefly for processing and are not used to train AI models. Please still avoid entering personal data. On devices with Apple Intelligence, texts can also be simplified entirely on the device. Then they never leave it. ## What does it cost? ## The app is ad-free. Each simplification via the cloud AI costs some money, which is why the app costs something. This is the version for schools where you don't have to buy additional simplifications. The VPP version comes with a large quota: about 3000 - 12000 texts (depending on length). After that there is a daily limit for simplifications. The app is designed for use with a whole class, even when many children simplify texts at the same time.
