Clauge vs Herdie

Clauge is a read-only iPhone companion for keeping an eye on your own Claude usage. It is an unofficial, third-party app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. "Claude" and "claude.ai" are products of Anthropic; this app simply reads your own account data so you can see it at a glance. WANT TO LOOK AROUND FIRST? You do not need an account to explore the app. On the first screen, tap "Take a look with sample data" and the entire app opens, filled with clearly-labelled example numbers. A persistent "SAMPLE DATA — Connect your account" banner stays on screen the whole time so nothing is ever mistaken for your real usage. It is the easiest way to see exactly what Clauge does before you sign in. WHAT YOU SEE ONCE YOU CONNECT - Usage: your current session and weekly limits with a live countdown to reset, your credit balance, and any overage — your own usage, a tap away. - Trends: a local history of your usage over time, kept on your device. - Settings: your account and app preferences. ANALYTICS — IF YOU ALSO RUN CLAUGE ON YOUR MAC The Analytics tab is always here. If you also use the separate Clauge app for Mac (a free download on the Mac App Store) signed in under the same Apple ID, it fills with your Claude Code analytics: a return-on-investment number, your spend, a 180-day activity heatmap, and breakdowns by model, by project, and by tool. Without the Mac app, the Analytics tab simply shows a short "No analytics yet — open Clauge on your Mac" note instead. The Usage and Trends tabs work on their own either way. This works because the Mac app writes a small stats file into your own private iCloud, which this app reads. HOW SIGNING IN WORKS You log in once to your own claude.ai account, right inside the app, using an email magic code or Sign in with Apple. (Google sign-in is not supported inside in-app browsers, so please use email or Apple.) From then on, the app reads only your own usage. Clauge has no account system and no server of its own — it never sits between you and your data. PRIVACY, PLAINLY - No backend. Clauge has no server. It talks only to claude.ai (your own account) and reads your own private iCloud. - The sign-in session is stored in the iPhone Keychain, on your device only, and is excluded from backups. - No tracking, no analytics, no telemetry, no ads, no third-party SDKs, no advertising identifier (IDFA). - The privacy manifest declares no tracking and collects no data types. WHAT THIS APP IS NOT - It is not an official Anthropic app. - It does not sell anything. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. It is free. - It is not a way to chat with Claude. Herdie brings your Herdr sessions to iPhone and iPad. Connect directly to your Mac or Linux host over SSH, check what your agents are doing, and send the next command. Your remote session keeps running when you leave the app. A terminal built for your phone Read terminal output behind floating controls, open the keyboard when you need it, or use the writing sheet for longer messages. Switch between running agents without leaving your session. Your hosts, one place Save SSH connections and reconnect with a tap. Use password authentication, an OpenSSH private key, or SSH none authentication for compatible hosts such as Tailscale SSH. Herdie asks you to verify new host keys and flags changes. Direct connections Terminal traffic travels directly between your device and your host. Passwords and private keys are stored in iOS Keychain. There is no Herdie account, terminal relay, or analytics SDK. Make it yours Choose a terminal theme and font size, customize the keyboard shortcuts, and use light or dark appearance. Herdie is free and open source. It requires a reachable SSH host with Herdr installed. It does not include a hosted computer or an AI subscription.
