I started teaching my children to make words with letter magnets on the fridge. Make cat. Swap the t for a p. Now it's cap. A simple letter change became a playful way to discover sounds, patterns, and new words. Wiggly Words brings that hands-on learning to phonics, word recognition, and spelling, giving children three focused ways to practice reading and writing skills. HOW TO USE WIGGLY WORDS PHONICS Start here to build decoding skills. Children sound out and blend a word, then change one part to make a new word. cat → hat → bat Because only one sound changes at a time, children can use the word they just read to help work out the next one. They are not simply shown the answer. Within each guided set, children make choices, change letters or sounds, and see how those changes create new words. After reading three related words, they build one of them part by part. This gives them another chance to work with the same sound pattern and connect the sounds they hear with the letters that represent them. 48 guided sets build gradually from simple three-letter words to blends, digraphs, vowel patterns, and more. Use Phonics when your child is learning to sound out unfamiliar words and recognize common spelling patterns. WORD WALL Next, build faster word recognition. Children hear a high-frequency word and find it among three choices. With repeated practice, familiar words become quicker and easier to recognize while reading. The 500-word collection includes regular and irregular high-frequency words from the Dolch and Fry lists. Missed words are marked for review so you know what needs more practice. SPELLING Then practice recalling words for writing. Children hear a word and build it from memory, letter by letter. If they get stuck, help appears gradually. Unused letters fade first, and more guidance appears only when needed. The child still completes the word. 320 spelling words provide practice from Kindergarten through Grade 3. A SIMPLE ROUTINE Start with Phonics to build decoding skills. Add Word Wall to help familiar words become automatic. Use Spelling to strengthen word recall for independent writing. Choose the activity that matches what your child is working on and practice for a few minutes at a time. • 48 guided phonics sets • 500 high-frequency words • 320 spelling words • Missed words marked for review • 2 free sets in each activity • No ads Decode. Recognize. Spell. Small steps toward stronger reading and writing.
