Unscrew. Sort. Relax. Bolt Out is a calm nuts and bolts sorting puzzle. Tap the topmost bolt on a plate to unscrew it, drop it into the box that matches its color, and clear every plate on the board. It takes seconds to learn and keeps getting deeper the further you go. WHY YOU WILL STAY - Every level is checked by a solver before you ever see it, so you are never handed a board with no way out - A tray for parking bolts that do not fit the current box yet, which is the real decision behind the simple tap - A free, always available hint that points straight at the solver's next move, with no video to sit through first - Endless levels that grow from a gentle warm up into a genuine brain teaser - A fresh Daily Challenge every day, the same board for everyone, with a streak to keep - Fully offline, so it works on a plane, on the subway, and anywhere with no wifi - Smooth animations, gentle haptics, and satisfying sounds TEN THEMES, ALL EARNED BY PLAYING Steel and Workshop are unlocked from your very first tap. Keep clearing levels to earn Toybox, Neon, Copper, Cobalt, Lime, Rust, Sunset, and Forge. All ten are free. None of them sits behind a purchase, and none of them can be bought. MADE TO BE FAIR No timer, no lives, and no pressure to rush. When the tray fills up you can watch a short video for one extra slot or to skip the current box, or simply start the level again with nothing lost. ONE PURCHASE, NO SUBSCRIPTIONS Bolt Out is free to play with ads: a banner on the menu and an occasional interstitial between levels. A single Remove Ads purchase takes them away permanently, with nothing to renew. It adds no content, because nothing is held back. Every mode, every level, the Daily Challenge, and all ten themes are already yours by playing. Play in 33 languages. Your progress stays on your device. No wifi game, no account, no sign up Tap to drop the slab. Land it clean and the run keeps going. Land it short and the overhang is sliced off, so the next one is smaller. It gets harder because your target keeps shrinking, not because it speeds up. Hit the middle and it's a perfect. Chain a few and the slab grows back. That's how you get a real score. The colors shift as you climb, so a run at 10 looks nothing like a run at 80. Every skin and world is earned by playing, 150 to 3,000 crystals. There's a daily gift, and three challenges that change every day. Rewarded ads are always your choice: revive a run, or top up crystals. There's a short ad between some runs, never before your first.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Slab at every 3 days against Bolt Out's every 2 months. Slab also leads on ratings volume (8 vs 1). Bolt Out's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bolt Out sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Slab sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Bolt Out against 5.0 for Slab. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Slab has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Bolt Out ships an update every 2 months, Slab every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
