Kinorbit helps you keep your inner circle close. Choose the people who matter most, and it tells you who is due, opens their chat in one tap, and remembers what you talked about last time. It is built around a limit. You choose a small number of people and place them in three circles: Core, up to 5 people: who you want to hear from every week Close, up to 15 people: who you want to stay meaningfully connected with each month Wider, up to 30 people: who you want to keep in your life across the year That is 50 people, on purpose. When a circle is full, Kinorbit asks you to make room instead of letting it quietly grow. You choose who matters most, and Kinorbit keeps track of when to reach out. WHAT KINORBIT ACTUALLY DOES One tap from reminder to conversation Tap a reminder and their chat opens straight away in Messages, WhatsApp, Messenger, or however you usually talk. Calls and FaceTime start the same way. When you are back, log it with a quick note. Pick up where you left off The next reminder brings that note back, like "Last time on WhatsApp: Camping trip in June." No note? It mentions how you last caught up instead. Turn notes off anytime in Settings. Your next check-in, on your Lock Screen On iOS 26 and later, your next reminder for someone in Core or Close can wait on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island as a Live Activity. Tap it to reach out, tick it once you have talked, or choose Not Today. Start with the people you already have Import from Contacts in one pass, or add someone by hand in a few seconds. Contacts permission is optional, nothing is uploaded, and only the people you pick are saved. One suggestion a day, not a backlog The Today screen shows who is due next and why, one person at a time. Set your daily Social Energy (Low, Balanced, or Open) and Kinorbit will never show you more than you asked for. No streaks, no overdue counts, no guilt. Reminders that explain themselves Every reminder names one person, shows their face, and says why they came to mind. Pick a Voice for how reminders sound: Warm, Gentle, or Playful. Reach out however you actually talk Message, call, or FaceTime, or use WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Discord, and more. Even someone you add by hand can be reached, with no Contacts permission needed. Birthdays, handled on their own Special dates arrive in the morning with enough notice to act on them, and never count against your Social Energy or your circles. See it, don't just scroll it Browse your circles as a list, a grid, or a floating visual you can drag people through. Make everyone look like themselves Give a person a photo, a monogram, or pick from 58 hand-illustrated avatars in your favorite color. A photo can become a clean cutout sticker. Widgets that stay current The Connections widget puts your circles on your Home Screen, with a warmth ring on every face and a badge on anyone who is due. Other Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show who is coming up next, without opening the app. Private by design Your circles live on your device and sync through your own iCloud account. There is no Kinorbit account and no server holding your people. WHO KINORBIT IS FOR If you have opened your contacts, felt overwhelmed, and closed it again without calling anyone, Kinorbit is built for that moment. It is for people who moved away from family and old friends, who have a demanding job or a new kid, or who just want fewer, better-kept relationships. Inspired by research on the natural limits of close relationships. Kinorbit is a personal tool, not a clinical or scientific instrument. Kinorbit is free for up to 15 people. Kinorbit Premium, an optional subscription, adds room for 50 and unlocks widgets, birthday reminders, reminder voices, and the full avatar library. Remember every day that matters — and get reminded before it arrives Countdowns and anniversaries, both in one place. A friend's birthday, the day you got together, the day you brought the cat home, the day you got the keys to your own place, the day your baby took their first steps, the exam coming up. Write them all down. Get reminded on the day, or however many days early you like. Enter it once — the app builds both the countdown and the anniversary The home screen answers "how long until", the Memories page answers "how far you've come". Add "Together" and the home screen counts down to your 2nd anniversary, while Memories shows "1 year 3 months so far". Add a birthday and the home screen counts down to turning 18, while Memories shows "17 years 9 months so far". Seven themes, pick the one you like Seven palettes — cards, buttons, filter chips and page background all change together, not just an accent color. For backgrounds, use the built-in patterns, a solid color, or your own photo. Day books Sort your days into books: family, love, work, travel… pick the color and icon yourself. The lunar calendar, done properly Lunar birthdays and traditional festivals land correctly year after year, leap months included. Born on the 30th of the last lunar month? In years without a 30th, you'll be reminded on New Year's Eve. Real holiday rules for dozens of countries and regions Including the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Australia and many more — using each region's real make-up-day logic, with a badge telling you whether that day is actually off. Widgets in several styles Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets recalculate at midnight, so the number you glance at is the right one. Several sizes and styles. Also • Turn any day into a shareable card, in several styles • Retirement countdown, with a progress bar • Pick your own units — days, weeks, months, years, or any combination • Choose how many days ahead to be reminded, and at what time • Anniversaries and milestones (100 days, 520, 1000…) • A trash can, so a mis-tap isn't the end • Lock the app with Face ID Privacy first Everything runs on your device. Your days, photos and settings stay local. Turn on iCloud sync and the data goes into your own private iCloud database. No third-party analytics, no ad tracking. Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Countdown Widget at every 4 days against Kinorbit's every 2 weeks. Countdown Widget also leads on ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Kinorbit sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Countdown Widget sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Kinorbit against 5.0 for Countdown Widget. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown Widget has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Kinorbit ships an update every 2 weeks, Countdown Widget every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
