lingoXpress teaches you a language one word at a time. A new word lands on your Home Screen each day. After that, the app brings it back in games, practice and conversation until you know it without thinking. BUILT ON SPACED REPETITION Without review, most new words are gone within days. lingoXpress schedules every word you meet: you see it again the next day, then about a week later, then at longer gaps each time you get it right. Miss it and it comes back tomorrow. Reviewing a word just before you would forget it is the most efficient way we know to move it into long-term memory, and memory research has been showing this since the 1880s. ALWAYS AT THE RIGHT LEVEL You learn fastest when a task is slightly beyond what you can already do, but still within reach. Teachers call this the zone of proximal development, and Practice is built to keep you there. Each session mixes the words that are due with ones you're still unsure of, and slots a few new words in between. If a question is too hard, tap "Help me, Linguarudo!", and our friendly mascot will be right with you to help out. GAMES FOR EACH SKILL Vocabulary β’ Opposites Attract: pair each word with its opposite. Learning "hot" alongside "cold" gives you two words for the effort of one, and each helps you remember the other. β’ Same Shade: sort words that mean nearly the same thing, so you have more than one way to say it. β’ Group Words: complete a real sentence with the right group word, like a flock of birds or a swarm of bees. β’ Superlative Match: match adjectives to their superlatives. β’ Word Match, Picture Match and Memory Match: link each word to its translation or to a picture. β’ Sentence Scramble: put a sentence back in order and get a feel for how the language builds one. Spelling β’ Hangman: guess the word letter by letter. You learn which letters a language uses and where they go, which is most of spelling. β’ Word Builder: unscramble the letters into the word. β’ Snow Spell and Wordapocalypse: fast arcade games where you spell against the clock. Listening β’ Every word has audio you can slow to 0.75Γ or 0.5Γ to catch each sound. β’ Spelling Bee: hear a word, then type it. It trains your ear to match sounds to letters. Grammar β’ Gender Game and Gender Flick: learn whether a noun is masculine, feminine or neuter, so the article comes with the word instead of being a guess. β’ Conjugation drills at Easy, Medium or Hard, and verb sudoku, where the clues are pronouns and you fill in the right form of the verb. Scripts and puzzles β’ Japanese kana: Kana Flip, KanaWhack, Kana Puzzle, Falling Kana, and Stroke Dojo for stroke order. β’ Arabic: Sun Moon Dash for sun and moon letters. β’ Crossword, Word Search, and Lingoku, a sudoku played with words. USE IT IN A SENTENCE Write with today's word in a short chat with Linguarudo, our AI tutor, and get a gentle correction when you slip. EVERY DAY, YOUR WAY β’ Word of the Day widget for your Home Screen or Lock Screen. β’ Get the word by notification, by email or both. β’ Learn several languages at once and choose which one the widget shows. β’ Words: everything you've met in one place, sorted into New, Learning and Learned. The app teaches 60+ languages; from English to Latin, from Spanish to Tagalog, including constructed languages such as Esperanto, Klingon, Elvish languages, and Naβvi. The app itself is in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Turkish, Dutch and Italian, and it uses the same free account as lingoxpress.com.
