Modrift
Read full descriptionHide full description
Modrift is a lightweight client for quickly opening, reading, and lightly editing files stored in the cloud โ right from your iPhone. Not a heavy notes app: just open, read, and tweak, as fast as possible. Key features - Open Markdown files (.md / .txt / .markdown) with clean formatted rendering - Launch straight from Files or any app via "Open in Modrift" - Keep your own working home (iCloud โบ Modrift): list, create and organise files there - Switch between Home (by place) and Recent (by time) - Toggle between edit and preview with one tap - A formatting toolbar above the keyboard in edit mode โ headings, lists, checkboxes, bold and more, one tap each - Automatic saving (no manual save button) - Full-text search, and sorting by date modified or name - Turn to landscape for longer lines โ easier on long paragraphs and tables - Japanese / English interface Beyond Markdown - View images (PNG / JPEG / GIF / HEIC / WebP) with pinch to zoom โ free - View PDFs with paging and zoom โ Modrift Pro (one-time purchase) - View Word documents (.docx) formatted, with headings, lists and tables โ Modrift Pro - View Excel workbooks (.xlsx) as tables, with sheet switching โ Modrift Pro Markdown, text and images stay free. Only PDF, Word and Excel viewing is part of Modrift Pro โ a single one-time purchase, no subscription. These formats are view-only; they cannot be edited. About your home and editing - Files in your home (iCloud โบ Modrift) are editable in place, and edits sync to iCloud - Files outside your home (Dropbox / Google Drive, or iCloud Drive outside the Modrift folder) are view-only. To edit one, use "Copy to Home" and edit the copy (the original is not written back) - You can choose whether your home lives in iCloud or on this iPhone, in Settings Relationship to the Files app Modrift complements the Files app rather than replacing it. Leave general folder management to Files; Modrift focuses on formatted Markdown viewing, light editing, and tidying its own home folder. The name combines Mo (Mobile / Motion) + drift โ the idea of thoughts and files flowing freely on mobile.
Filepad Markdown
Read full descriptionHide full description
Filepad opens the Markdown you already have โ in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or on this iPhone โ and leaves it exactly where it is. Nothing is copied into the app. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. FINDS WHAT IS QUIETLY WRONG HTML tells you when you break it. Markdown does not โ it just renders differently, and you never notice. Filepad reads your document the way the renderer does and points at the lines that will not come out the way you meant: a heading with no space after the #, a table row with the wrong number of cells, an unclosed link, a footnote with no definition. One tap fixes what can be fixed by adding text. Nothing is ever deleted to "fix" something. READS PROPERLY Headings, tables, task lists, quotes, code blocks, footnotes, front matter, and [[wiki links]] between documents in the same folder. Jump by heading with the outline, or with the four navigation buttons that sit under your thumb. FINDS THINGS Search inside a document with every hit highlighted, or search a whole folder and see which files hold what you are looking for. Sort by name or by when you last changed something. EDITS AND SAVES CAREFULLY Edit the source with a toolbar for the marks you forget, and a line that tells you what the cursor is sitting on. Saving is atomic, and the previous version is kept beside the file so an edit can be undone. If the file changed outside the app while you were editing, Filepad does not overwrite it โ it saves your version alongside and asks you. ALSO OPENS PDF, HTML AND TEXT PDFs and web documents are view-only. HTML is drawn with network access blocked at two independent layers, and when a document tries to reach the internet for an image or a script, Filepad says so on screen instead of quietly fetching it. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No account. No sync service of ours. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app makes no network requests at all. Your folders, your files, your device. Free, and staying free.
