Blur Faces
Read full descriptionHide full description
Blurshot is a face blur app that lets you blur faces, license plates, screens and anything else private in a photo, right on your iPhone. Censor, pixelate or redact any part of the picture and the change is baked permanently into the copy you export β no watermark, nothing uploaded. Everything runs on device. Your photos never leave your iPhone, the app works in airplane mode, and the original picture is never modified β Blurshot always saves a new copy. Most blur apps leave the private part recoverable, stamp a logo on the export, or drop your image to a lower resolution on save. Blurshot works the other way around. The mosaic is written into the pixels, your full resolution and color are preserved exactly, and you can strip the location and EXIF data on the way out. Tap a face to hide it, drag a box over a document, or let automatic detection find every face, license plate and block of text in one pass. Adjust the strength, switch between mosaic, pixelate, Gaussian blur or a solid bar, and save straight to your camera roll at full quality. FEATURES - Blur faces in photos: find every face in one tap, or pick only the ones you want hidden - Mosaic, pixelate, Gaussian blur or a black bar, each with a live strength slider - Redact screenshots: hide names, addresses, chat messages, order numbers and account details - Blur documents and ID cards before you send them on - Hide license plates and house numbers in photos of cars and homes - Permanent by design β the blur is written into the exported image, not layered over it - Strip EXIF and location data on export - No watermark on any export - Everything runs on your iPhone β nothing is uploaded, nothing leaves the device - Undo, redo and autosave PERFECT FOR - Hiding faces before posting to Instagram, TikTok, X or Reddit - Censoring a screenshot before you share it in a group chat - Redacting a document, invoice, ticket or ID before emailing it - Protecting a child's privacy in family photos - Blurring a license plate or address in a listing photo HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a photo from your library β nothing is uploaded to do it. 2. Drag a box over what you want gone, paint over it with the brush, or tap Find Faces and let Blurshot detect every face, license plate and block of text in one pass. 3. Choose the cover: Gaussian blur, mosaic, pixelate, or a solid black bar for anything that must be unreadable. 4. Save. You get a new photo at full resolution with the redaction written into the pixels. WHY THE COVER HAS TO BE PERMANENT A blur that sits in a layer can be peeled off. A screenshot that is merely cropped can often be recovered. Blurshot rewrites the pixels themselves, so what you send is what the other person gets β there is no hidden original inside the file, and the EXIF and GPS data are stripped on the way out. For text specifically, Blurshot defaults to a solid bar rather than a blur. Blurred and pixelated text can sometimes be reconstructed; an opaque bar cannot. If you switch a text area to a softer style, the app says so rather than letting you find out later. Blurshot is free to use. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Blur Faces at none against MozaiC's 1. Blur Faces also leads on ads (none vs shown). MozaiC's advantage is iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
