How tall is that tree? Tree Height Meter turns your phone into a digital clinometer and estimates the height of any tree, utility pole, flagpole or building — no tape to the top, no special gear, just your phone and a little trigonometry. Stand back a known distance, sight the top and the base of your target, and the app combines the elevation angles with the distance to show an estimated height in metres or feet. TWO MEASURING METHODS • Two-point method — sight both the TOP and the BASE from one spot and enter the horizontal distance. Works even on sloping ground, because the base angle correctly adds its share. • Eye-height method — when the base sits level with your feet, sight only the TOP and add your own eye height. Faster, for flat ground. WHAT YOU GET • A live elevation-angle readout as you tilt the phone • Capture top and base with a tap • Zero-at-horizon calibration for a clean reading • Metres or feet, your choice • A Methods reference and a step-by-step Guide built in WHO IT'S FOR Foresters and arborists, surveyors and landscapers, tree-care crews, students learning trigonometry, and anyone curious how tall the tree in the yard really is. A NOTE ON ACCURACY The height is an estimate. Accuracy depends on a correct distance, a steady phone and a clear line of sight to the top and base — zero on a level horizon first. For estimation only; verify critical measurements with a calibrated instrument. MORE THAN TREES • Distance — sight the top of something whose height you know (a door, a pole, a building) and read how far away it is. • Area — enter the sides of a rectangle or a four-sided plot and get m², ft², acres or hectares. No tape? The pace helper turns your steps into metres. • Timber — estimate standing-tree volume from height and DBH, plus log yield in board feet by the Doyle, Scribner and International ¼-inch rules. Tree height carries over from your last saved measurement. HOW TO AIM Hold the phone upright, look across its top edge and tilt the back of the phone up toward the treetop. Looking up reads positive, looking down reads negative, and a light tap confirms each capture. Every height is saved to your history, where you can export a CSV or build a summary report.

ArborTrack Whether you're logging a few trees in your backyard or managing a professional inventory across dozens of sites, ArborTrack gives you accurate measurements and organized records — no tape measure, no clipboard, no spreadsheet required. MEASURE WITH LiDAR (iPhone Pro / iPad Pro) • DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) — point your camera at the trunk and a measurement ring locks on automatically. Drag to reposition, pinch to fine-tune, then confirm. Supports short trees, shrubs, and multi-stem trunks. • Height — walk-to-measure using the classic 45° sighting method: back up until the treetop sits at roughly 45°, mark your spot and the tree base, and ArborTrack calculates total height from the walked distance and your eye level. • Crown Spread — a two-point AR ruler measures canopy width in two directions, 90° apart. Don't have a LiDAR-equipped device? Every measurement can also be entered manually, so ArborTrack still works as a full tree inventory and organization tool on any iPhone or iPad. BUILT FOR THE FIELD • Works fully offline — no internet connection needed for any measurement tool • Reposition or redo any AR reading without starting over • Measurements are recorded in feet and inches TRACK EVERY TREE • Group trees into projects, with an optional site code to organize by location • Tree IDs assigned automatically in sequence • Record species, condition (good/fair/poor), tree type, and multi-branch status • Attach up to 3 photos per tree • Custom, reusable note chips for fast, consistent field notes • GPS coordinates and UTM captured automatically with every tree • Search and filter your tree list by ID, species, condition, note, or any measurement range • See every tree on a map, color-coded by condition • Track multiple surveyors on a shared device, each with their own height for accurate eye-level calculations WORK YOUR WAY • No account required — everything stays on your device until you choose otherwise • Sign in with email, Apple, or Google to back up your projects to the cloud • Automatic background sync keeps your projects current across your devices and with your team — no manual refresh needed • Share a project with your team, with view-only or edit permissions per person • In-app step-by-step guides for every measurement type EXPORT & REPORT • Export any project to CSV for reporting, GIS import, or client deliverables From a curious homeowner to a certified arborist, ArborTrack keeps your tree data accurate, organized, and easy to share.
