About

CueCard

Keep your words, photos and screenshots together. A passage from a book, a coffee worth remembering, a few moments from a trip, or something you want to refer to later: add a few words and save it in a card. CueCard gives your ideas a place to live, ready to revisit when you need them. Add up to three images to each item. Switch to Large Images to read text and pictures together, or tap an image to view it full screen, swipe through the others and zoom in. You can also save images to Photos or share them. Organize longer cards into groups, then use the outline to jump to the part you want. When an idea comes to you, jot it down in Quick Capture from Home and organize it later. Search, tags, pinning and archiving help you find what you need. Choose colors and icons to make your cards feel like your own. For things you want to work through, use groups with checkboxes. Make a reusable checklist for getting out the door, packing, cooking or a work routine. Start a card to see its text and checklist progress on the Lock Screen and, on supported iPhones, in Dynamic Island. Check off items right from the Lock Screen. Set a one-time or recurring reminder to open the right card when it's time, and look back at completion records when you want to use it again. Your content is stored on your device by default, with no separate account to create. Export an individual card as a backup file, or back up all your cards, images and completion records. Turn on optional iCloud sync when you want to use your cards across devices. Save up to five regular cards for free, with image notes and checklists included. CueCard Pro removes the regular card limit.

About

Decoy

Features

The iPhone's own Notes app can't live on your Lock Screen. Decoy can, and nobody else can read it. Appointments, medication, errands you'd rather not explain. The Lock Screen is the surface you glance at most, and it's also the one other people see most. So some things never made it there. While your phone is locked, Decoy looks like a blank card, or whatever text you chose in advance. The moment Face ID passes, your real notes appear. ■ Made for ・Writing things down and then never looking at them again ・Living or working around people who glance at your screen ・Appointments and errands you'd rather keep to yourself ■ What it does ・Works as a to-do list, or as plain notes ・Reminders at the time you set ・Repeats daily, on weekdays, weekly, monthly ・Separate lists for separate parts of your life (Pro) ■ How it's built ・No ads ・Everything stays on your device by default. iCloud sync is there if you want it ・No accounts, no sign-in A note on what this is not: once Face ID or your passcode has been entered, anyone holding your phone can read your notes. Decoy hides things from the people around you, not from someone with your unlocked phone. Keep passwords and PINs in a dedicated password manager. Decoy Pro is a one-time purchase. It removes the note limit and adds per-note reminders, separate lists, and control over how things look while locked. Verdict

The call

CueCard and Decoy are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. CueCard sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Decoy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
