Resecta redacts PDFs entirely on your iPhone. A black box drawn over text can leave the text underneath readable; Resecta is designed to remove the text in the regions you mark, then checks the output before you share. Find what to redact • Search by text, regular expression or a list of terms, and save the searches you reuse. • Scan looks for 17 kinds of personal information, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, and card and account numbers (many are US formats). • Draw a rectangle by hand over anything else. Search and Scan results arrive unselected; nothing is redacted without your selection. Redact Marks show what will be removed. Tap Redact and Resecta rebuilds the PDF from page images, with the marked regions overwritten in the pixels. Secure Rasterization produces image-only output. Searchable Redaction keeps the text outside your redactions searchable, for PDFs that have a text layer. Check before you share Verification runs 7 checks on Secure Rasterization output and 12 on Searchable Redaction output, including text extraction, OCR, a search of the file's bytes, a metadata check, a re-run of the searches you applied, and a detection sweep. What they find is listed, and sharing a file with reported issues asks you to confirm. Verification is a check, not a substitute for your review. Private by design No accounts, no analytics, no data collection. The app makes no network requests of its own, and you can use it in airplane mode. Good to know • PDF files only, up to 50 MB and 500 pages. Encrypted PDFs are not supported. • Resecta doesn't store your documents or edits; share or save the redacted copy to keep it. • Name detection uses an on-device language model from iOS. Where it is unavailable, name results are reduced and the app says so. Free and open source under Apache-2.0. Source: github.com/Merlin1A/resecta

Redact Zero permanently hides sensitive information in your documents — and proves it. Most "redaction" apps just draw a black box on top, or blur the text. Both can be undone. Redact Zero flattens the redaction directly into the image and then re-scans the result to confirm the hidden text can't be recovered. When you see "Verified unrecoverable," it means it. Everything happens on your device. Your documents are never uploaded. SCAN OR IMPORT • Scan paper documents with your camera • Import photos or existing PDFs FINDS SENSITIVE INFO AUTOMATICALLY • Names, faces, and dates of birth • Social Security numbers and credit-card numbers (validated) • Emails, phone numbers, and addresses • Account, routing, member, and policy numbers • Passport / ID machine-readable zones Tap to choose what to hide — the obvious items are pre-selected — or paint over anything by hand. TRULY UNRECOVERABLE • Solid redactions are flattened into the pixels, not overlaid • The export is re-scanned to confirm the text is gone • Metadata is stripped; a brand-new file is created BUILT FOR REAL WORK • Export redacted PDFs or images, or save to Photos • Multi-page and batch redaction • Zoom in for precise, small-text redaction • iPad: split-view workspace with a sensitive-info inspector • Apple Pencil: draw redactions while your finger pans, pressure-sensitive width, double-tap to switch tools PRO Redact Zero is free to use, up to a monthly limit. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited redactions, PDF import/export, batch, the "Verified Unrecoverable" report, and compliance presets (HIPAA Safe Harbor, Mortgage/SSN, Blind Résumé). Perfect for real estate and mortgage, healthcare, legal, HR, and anyone who shares documents that contain private information. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Resecta at none against Redact Zero's 3. Resecta also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Redact Zero's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
