Five minutes of arithmetic a day, on an on-screen soroban (Japanese abacus). Set each answer by tapping the beads. Over time the soroban appears in your mind's eye, and you begin to answer in your head. ■ Practice by digits Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and column addition (見取算) with 1-, 2- and 3-digit numbers. Ten problems a round: a right answer earns a 〇, and a miss comes with the steps to review it. ■ See the steps Every bead move is played back one at a time and named as soroban teachers name it (carry ten, five complement and so on). Multiplication by 両落とし and division by 商除法 show which rod each digit goes on. ■ Toward mental math As you answer accurately, the beads fade until they can't be seen. They still move where they would be, so your fingers keep working the soroban in your head. Each kind of problem has its own level (0–6), shown on the home screen and during a round. ■ How it works Lessons from the single bead moves of addition and subtraction to 2- and 3-digit worked examples and the methods for multiplication and division, each ending with one problem to try. ■ For • Children learning soroban, practising at home • Adults picking up the soroban they learned long ago • Anyone building mental arithmetic a little every day No account, no ads. All data stays on your device, and the app works offline.
