Somewhere in a drawer lived a little camera that saw the world in four shades of green. The photos were terrible. Every single one became a treasure. DitherBoy brings that feeling back. It boots up with a beep — a whole tiny handheld inside your iPhone — and through its viewfinder, the world turns into pixel art right before your eyes. When the moment feels right, press A. • A camera you drive with a D-pad and buttons • Palettes from that green to full retro color • Albums kept on cartridges — TRAVEL, LUNCH, CAT No.5 • A tiny pixel date stamp in the corner • No account, no internet. Just a camera. Low on pixels, heavy on soul. Go shoot something — your lunch, your socks, the sky. Everything looks better in dots.

Welcome to Deez Camera—the wonderful camera app you've been dreaming of to capture the life of the moment again. Deez Camera bypasses the standard computational and machine-learning processing, sharpening, and HDR found in the stock camera app, and replaces it with processing that is scientifically matched to classic digital point-and-shoot cameras. It's easy to become used to the black box of stock camera apps, but we still find ourselves gravitating towards carrying around twenty-year-old cameras. Why? These old cameras seem to capture the life of a moment that modern smartphones, despite their technological sophistication, cannot: the imperfections, the light and the dark, and the true emotion. These old cameras seem to capture lightning in a bottle. Fortunately, for smartphone users, it is not a matter of differing hardware, but of software. At its core, the image sensor in an iPhone isn't so different from that of a digital camera from years ago, yet the photos look strikingly dissimilar. The difference lies in how the software processes the image before saving it—Deez Camera bypasses the overbearing processing pipeline and instead applies a pipeline that has been scientifically matched to that of our favorite digital point-and-shoot cameras from years ago. While not every photo will turn out perfectly detailed, exposed, sharp, and clean, every photo turns out perfectly real.
