Latch puts the apps that pull you in behind a shield for as long as you choose. You unlock your phone to check one thing. Forty minutes later you are still scrolling. Latch sits in that gap: tap the dial, pick a length, and those apps stop opening until the time runs out. HOW A LATCH WORKS Pick the apps and websites you want quiet. Tap the dial. Choose 30 minutes, an hour, two hours, or set your own length. Open something you latched and you get a shield instead, with one button that closes it again. There is no bypass inside the shield. That is the point. To use the app, you come back to Latch and end the latch on purpose. GOLDEN LATCH Some sessions should not be up for negotiation. A Golden Latch starts and holds until time is up. No end-early button. No shield escape. If you need out, you have golden tickets, and you only get three. Every account gets three Golden Latches to try. SCHEDULES THAT RUN WITHOUT YOU Deep work at 9. Bedtime at 11. Build a window once and it fires on the weekdays you choose, on time, off time, whether or not Latch is open. Windows can overlap. SEE WHERE THE DAY WENT The Focus tab shows your real per-app screen time for any day of the week: total time, pickups, which apps took the hours, and an hour-by-hour split between what distracts you and everything else. Latch already knows what tends to pull people in, so the first number appears without you configuring anything. WIDGETS, SIRI, SHORTCUTS, AND THE ACTION BUTTON Start a latch from the Home Screen without opening the app. Watch the countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Ask Siri. Map it to the Action Button. Add it as a Shortcut. Widgets for your streak, your weekly goal, your next schedule, and today at a glance. A WEEKLY GOAL YOU SET Choose how many hours a week you want held, and Latch tracks the streak. It reads the streak from your real sessions, so a missed day resets it. No freezes, no guilt. BUILT LOCAL, ON PURPOSE No account. No sign-up. No servers. No telemetry, no third-party SDKs. Your history lives on your phone and stays there. Latch runs on Apple's Screen Time framework, so the app itself never receives the names of the apps you pick. It holds opaque tokens. The per-app numbers on the Focus tab are computed inside a sandboxed Apple extension that cannot send them anywhere, including to Latch. Latch asks for Screen Time access on first launch. iOS requires that permission to shield apps, and Latch cannot do anything without it.

Some apps you open on purpose. Others just open themselves — you reach for them before you even decide to. Latch is for the second kind. Pick the apps that pull you in, lock them for a window you set in advance, and Latch holds the line — even when you're tempted to peek. It isn't a timer you can dismiss; it's a commitment you make to yourself, on purpose, and keep. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick your apps. Choose the ones you open without thinking. Latch works through your iPhone's own Screen Time controls — it never sees which apps you picked. 2. Set the lock. Once, on a weekly schedule, a date range, or specific days each month. Your call, made with a clear head. 3. Add friction to change your mind. Opening early means waiting it out, or slowly typing a passage by hand — no paste, no shortcuts. Just enough of a pause to choose on purpose. WHY LATCH Most urges are loud, then gone in a few minutes. A soft timer you can skip doesn't help in that moment. Latch is built to hold — short of the deliberate exits you set up yourself — so the decision you made calmly is the one that stands. - Four lock types — once, weekly, date range, or monthly. - Your choice of exit — wait it out, type a passage, both, or no early exit at all (Locked mode). - Paste-blocked typing test — real typing, not a clipboard shortcut. - A calm shield, never a lecture — just a reminder of your own decision. - Private by design — no account, no login. The apps you lock never leave your device. FREE & PRO Your first latch is free. Latch Pro unlocks unlimited latches, every lock type, Locked mode, and a customizable shield. - Latch Pro Monthly — $3.99/month - Latch Pro Yearly — $24.99/year Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled; manage anytime in your App Store account. Prices may vary by region. Terms of Use: https://latch-aqq.pages.dev/terms Privacy Policy: https://latch-aqq.pages.dev/privacy PRIVACY Latch has no account and no server-side profile of you. The apps you choose to lock stay on your device. The only data collected is anonymous, aggregate analytics — none of it linked to your identity.

Verdict
Latch and Latch are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Latch sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Latch sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
