Count your steps. Then beat someone. Stride is a step counter and pedometer built around friendly walking competition. Track your daily steps, challenge a friend to a Step Battle, or race the pace you need to hit your goal with Stride Companion. CHALLENGE A FRIEND Send a Step Battle invitation, choose when it ends, and see who walks more. Your friend doesn't need to be online at the same time — the battle starts when they accept and only new steps count. DAILY STEPS See your daily step total and goal progress. Open Activity details for distance, active calories, and Lock Screen controls. Stride uses Apple Health and your iPhone's motion data. STRIDE COMPANION Compare your steps with the pace you need to reach your daily goal, shaped by your recent activity. See whether you're ahead or behind as the day unfolds. RANDOM BATTLES Want a stranger instead? Find another walker for a 30-minute Random Battle. Both walkers confirm they're ready, then compete during the same window. Most steps wins. Matching depends on another walker being available — if no one is, you can challenge a friend instead. Build your battle record with completed battles, wins, personal bests, milestones, and a weekly goal. WALKS AND WORKOUTS Track steps, distance, pace, and your route during a session. Review your completed walks and workouts in History. LOCK SCREEN AND DYNAMIC ISLAND Follow your current activity at a glance. An active battle takes priority while your walk tracking continues. HISTORY AND PROGRESS Compare your week with the previous one and review daily totals, sessions, and completed challenges. Light and dark appearances follow your iPhone's settings. YOU CHOOSE WHEN TO JOIN An invitation doesn't start a battle. Confirm when you're ready, manage invitation preferences, and report or block an opponent when needed. Your raw Apple Health records and walking routes stay on your device. Battles share the information needed to run the competition, including your display name and battle score. Opponent scores can pause while a phone is locked or offline. Reopen Stride to refresh them. Results can remain pending while final scores are checked.
