Jyotish Notes
Read full descriptionHide full description
Jyotish Notes is a fast, beautiful Vedic astrology workbench — cast a chart in seconds, watch transits move over it, drill dashas to any depth, and keep a journal of what actually happened. Watch planetary transits and dasha progressions unfold together in one synchronized view. Play with informative overlays of multiple dasha systems (Vimshottari, Chara, Yogini and more) mapped against real-time transit positions. Parashari and Jaimini charts sit side-by-side as living references while the sky and dasha timelines move in concert, revealing cause and effect as they actually play out. Capture event notes directly against these charts. Everything stays private on your device. Start with a free try-out period, then continue with a nominal subscription that supports ongoing refinements. Study the classical systems the way they were meant to be studied — in motion, layered, and alive. TRANSITS, FOR DECADES • Live transit overlay on your chart — glowing grahas with drishti lines • Drive the transit wheel by day or month and watch the dasha lords change • Sign-transit timelines for Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu & Ketu • Planet transit tables from Mars to Pluto, with gati (speed) states • Daily navagraha ephemeris covering 1900–2159 DASHAS, TO ANY DEPTH • Vimshottari drilled five levels deep — down to Sookshma and Prana • Yogini and Chara (K. N. Rao) systems • Compare any two dasha systems side by side on one timeline PANCHANGA • Tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga, karana and hora for any day and place • Sunrise-anchored day view NOTES THAT REMEMBER THE SKY • Journal life events per chart — every note is stamped with the running MD/AD/PAD • Tag entries, revisit them, and see how the periods played out MADE FOR JYOTISH ENTHUSIASTS • The whole app in English, हिंदी, मराठी and ગુજરાતી — native numerals included • Sidereal calculations with selectable ayanamsa (Chitrapaksha default) DESIGNED FOR IPHONE & IPAD • iPad layouts for both portrait and landscape mode• Light and dark themes — from OLED Midnight to Slate & Gold • Everything is computed on your device — works offline, no account needed

The best hours of your day, read from your chart. Sumuhurta answers one question — when today is good for you — and answers it as one screen. The screen is the sky. It moves from dawn through noon to dusk and true dark, and your windows sit in it as spans of light: one to three in each sunrise-to-sunrise cycle. You may know your chart from apps that read your personality. Sumuhurta reads the other thing a chart holds — time. In this app, the chart is one input to a traditional timing calculation. Sumuhurta reads choghadiya, hora and the abhijit muhurta against your dasha period, the Moon's position relative to yours, the hour's ruling planet and how it sits for you. Each window carries a plain name. A clear run is long and sustained, for the deep work. Sharp is short and bright, for sending and deciding. Steady is even, for meetings and slower work. Beneath the name, a quiet attribution — Jupiter hora · Amrit — is there for readers who know Jyotish. The day runs sunrise to sunrise. If your free hours begin at nine at night, your windows do too. Every personal window Sumuhurta surfaces is calculated to avoid Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika, and the Kaal, Rog and Udveg choghadiya periods. It does not display negative-period tables or claim to perform a complete electional-muhurta assessment. It keeps its selected personal windows and leaves the rest as open sky. That is the whole idea, and it is on purpose. Everything is computed on your phone. Your birth details never leave it. No account, no email, no sign-in, no advertising, and no analytics SDK. The developer does not collect data from the app. One price, once. Two weeks free first, full product, no card required. After the trial, the app screen — every window, day and night, the scrub, the share card — stays free forever. The purchase is Sumuhurta arriving on its own: six widget families, StandBy, window-open alerts, an optional 9pm preview when tonight holds nothing further, and a Live Activity that keeps the open window on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island until it closes. You can also choose to show meetings as faint marks on the day line; Calendar access is requested only when you turn that setting on, and event start and end times are read on your phone. No subscription and no add-ons. The paywall displays the App Store's localized price. Sumuhurta is tradition and guidance, not prediction. It does not read your future, match your compatibility, or explain your personality. It offers selected personal timing windows, and it is made to be worth looking at.

Verdict
Jyotish Notes and Sumuhurta are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Jyotish Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Sumuhurta sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
