Print 4x6 shipping labels and your own PDFs and images from your Mac, iPhone or iPad straight to a Zebra thermal printer. You don't need a driver. Backfeed also sets up, calibrates and troubleshoots the printer, and that part is free. FREE, WITH NO ACCOUNT • Add a Printer walks you through it: it finds Zebra ZD printers on your network, sets up a new one over Bluetooth and puts it on your Wi-Fi, or adds one by its address • Shows live status: ready, out of paper, head open, paused • Calibrates to the labels you have loaded, and reads the label size from the printer's gap sensor • Print Settings: darkness, print speed, tear off or peel off, and media type, with Undo • A test label that fits the labels you have loaded: edge marks and a ruler show whether it's lined up, a solid band shows print quality, and it lists the printer's model, connection, firmware and settings in plain words • Fixes common problems: clears stuck jobs, reboots the printer, resets print geometry settings with one tap, switches a printer back to ZPL, and restores printer defaults while keeping Wi-Fi • For technicians: an advanced console for raw ZPL and SGD commands BACKFEED LOCAL: ONE-TIME PURCHASE Print your own files over your local network, for good. • Open a PDF or image in Backfeed, use Open With, or drag it onto the Mac window • A 4x6 label PDF from your shipping software prints at full size on a 4x6 label • A letter-size page with a 4x6 label on it prints just the label, at full size • The preview shows exactly what the print head will print, at your label's size • It needs no account, and nothing leaves your network BACKFEED CLOUD: SUBSCRIPTION Print to your printers from anywhere. • The printer connects out to the Backfeed relay, so you don't need a VPN or port forwarding • Includes everything in Backfeed Local, for as long as you subscribe • Plans for 1 printer, 5 printers, or up to 25 • 14-day free trial for eligible new subscribers • Export or delete your cloud data from inside the app ONE PURCHASE, EVERY DEVICE Backfeed runs natively on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Backfeed Local and Backfeed Cloud are Universal Purchases: buy once and use them on every device signed in to the same Apple Account. NO ANALYTICS, ADS OR TRACKING Backfeed ships no analytics SDK, no advertising and no third-party trackers. SUPPORTED PRINTERS Zebra ZD410, ZD411 and ZD421 network printers with direct thermal labels. Bluetooth setup works on models that have Bluetooth. Automatic discovery needs your device and printer on the same network; otherwise add it by its address, or use Backfeed Cloud. Print labels straight from your iPhone to the label printer on your network. LabelDeck speaks ZPL directly to your printer over Wi-Fi. There is no cloud service in the middle, no account to create, and nothing to install on a computer. FIND YOUR PRINTER • Sweep your network and list every label printer that answers • Or enter an IP address directly — for a printer on another subnet, or with network discovery switched off • Detect Settings asks the printer to describe itself and fills in the form, marking which values are measured facts and which are only settings • Live status: ready, out of media, head open, paused, labels remaining • Mark one printer as the default and it is preselected everywhere COMPOSE A LABEL • Multi-line text, wrapped to the printable width • Font size in points, converted against each printer's own print density — the same saved label comes out the same physical size on a 203 and a 300 dpi unit • Auto-Fit picks the largest size that still fits, allowing for a barcode • Left, center, right and justified alignment • Rotate 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° • Code 128 and QR barcodes, sized to fit automatically • 1 to 99 copies • Live preview, and the exact command stream on request before anything is sent SAVE AND REUSE Keep any label you compose and reopen it later to edit. Import labels designed elsewhere — from the printer's own storage, from a file, from the clipboard, or through the share sheet. FILL-IN-THE-BLANK FIELDS Label design software bakes the sample text you typed at design time into the export as fixed data. Normally the fix is opening the file in a text editor. LabelDeck lists every text and barcode value it finds, and you tap the ones that should be variable and name them. Printing then shows a short form of just those fields, remembers the values you used last time, and previews the filled label before sending. Labels pulled from the printer's own storage arrive with their variable fields already declared and named, so there is nothing to mark by hand. Text that no longer fits is shrunk to fit, and the app tells you which field it shrank — rather than letting a long value run off the edge of the label. PRIVACY Your labels, templates and printer list stay on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing you create is uploaded anywhere. COMPATIBILITY Requires a label printer that accepts ZPL over a raw TCP connection on your local network — including Zebra® ZD and ZT series. Bluetooth and USB-only printers are not supported. LabelDeck is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Zebra Technologies Corporation. Zebra and ZPL are trademarks of Zebra Technologies Corporation.
