You're doing 70 on the interstate. The tank is low, everyone's hungry, and the next big green sign is a mystery. Take this exit, or gamble on the next one? Pit Stop ends the gamble. Open it on any US interstate and it figures out which highway you're on and which direction you're headed — then lines up every exit ahead with exactly what's there: gas stations, restaurants, hotels, and sights actually worth stopping for. NO TYPING, NO SETUP • No route to enter, no destination needed. Merge on and the exits ahead just appear, counting down as you drive. • Off the highway? Pit Stop waits quietly and lights up the moment you merge. READS LIKE THE REAL SIGNS • Filter to Food and every exit becomes a blue logo board — the brands you know, laid out like the signs on the roadside. • Gas, food, stays, and sights, each with its distance off the ramp, so you know if it's right at the exit or three miles into town. FIND YOUR CRAVING • Search "Chipotle" and see the next 5 exits that have one — with miles, minutes, and distance off the exit. • Or just say it: tap the mic, speak, and Pit Stop reads the answer back while your eyes stay on the road. WORTH THE STOP • Roadside wonders get a heart: castles, museums, zoos, national parks. If something remarkable is coming up, Pit Stop tells you before you drive past it. BUILT FOR THE DASH • Full CarPlay app: exits ahead on the car screen, food and gas tabs, one-tap brand search with voice, and one more tap hands navigation to Apple Maps. GAMES THE WHOLE CAR PLAYS • Backseat Games turn the drive into family time: kids join from their own phones at play.pit-stop-app.com — no app needed — and the CarPlay screen becomes the live scoreboard, so even the driver plays, hands-free. • Exit Bingo deals cards from real places at the exits ahead. You win by looking out the window. • Dinner Draft: the car votes on the next five food exits and Pit Stop navigates to the winner. • Plus Over/Under, License Plates, and Mile Marker Showdown — on any road, not just highways. WORKS WHERE SIGNAL DOESN'T • Every interstate exit in the lower 48 + DC — 20,000+ exits and 700,000+ places — ships inside the app. Good stops. Great trips. Exit data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Pit Stop is not affiliated with the brands shown; logos identify businesses near exits.

Where should you go, and on which night, for the darkest sky? Nyx gives each night a darkness score from 0 to 100, from the Moon, the clouds, the sky glow and the hours of true darkness: for the 63 US national parks, for parks and dark-sky places around the world, and for any spot you save. It tells you what it doesn't know. Free. No account, no ads, no tracking. ONE SCORE, WITH ITS REASONS Four parts add up, and the weakest can cap the total, so a cloudy or moonlit night never looks good. The dial draws the night itself, sunset to sunrise, and a plain sentence says where the Moon is and whether the Milky Way's core is clear of it. At the US national parks, closures from the National Park Service sit beside the number; elsewhere Nyx says plainly that it cannot check closures. THE US NATIONAL PARKS All 63, checked by hand: named viewing spots, Bortle estimates beside Park Service sky measurements, park alerts, ranger night-sky programs, campgrounds and access notes. North of the tropics, each shows how many of the Little Dipper's seven stars you would likely see. AROUND THE WORLD About 3,400 national parks and dark-sky places in 172 countries, and about 31,600 towns and cities to start from. Almost anywhere on land, sky brightness comes from NASA's satellite night lights and the usual clouds from ten years of weather records, both labeled as estimates. Saved spots are scored like parks. PLAN See tonight's darkest places within a straight-line radius, and drag across the dial to step through the next two weeks. Or browse the world by country and on a map. Each place has a month calendar and a thirty-night timeline where the Moon changes shape as you scrub; for a park, six months of dark weekends go into your calendar at once. AN HONEST FORECAST For the next few days the cloud forecast counts in full. Further out it eases toward each place's usual clouds, and beyond the forecast the usual clouds count alone, and say so. Rain, fog, storms and heavy smoke are named, and smoke can cap the score. WHAT'S UP TONIGHT The Milky Way core and its Moon-free hours, the planets, meteor showers, lunar eclipses, and aurora when NOAA's forecast reaches the place. They never change the score. FIELD MODE On site, a red, dimmed screen counts down to true darkness and shows the sky where you point your iPhone. ON YOUR WRIST AND IN THE ROOM Apple Watch shows the same night on its dial. On Apple Vision Pro, stand under a US national park's computed sky. THE NIGHT YOU CHOOSE Tap "I'm going" and Nyx keeps watch: it tells you if the night gets clearly worse, says when to leave, and drafts a message to tell someone where you will be. KEEP A LITTLE OF THE NIGHT Save places for optional reminders of promising nights, keep a private journal with photos, and see the best saved sky in widgets. FOR MORE PEOPLE Designed for VoiceOver and the largest text sizes, with audio graphs and a night vision mode, on by hand or at dusk, that keeps the whole app readable to night-adapted eyes. In five languages. PRIVATE AND OFFLINE Your exact location, journal, photos and plans stay on your device; calendar access is add-only. Four public services from three providers supply data, each with its own switch: park alerts from the National Park Service, forecasts and smoke from Open-Meteo, and NOAA's aurora forecast. The Moon, the Milky Way, the calendar and your journal work offline. BEFORE YOU GO Scores are planning estimates, not a promise of clear skies or open roads. Check with the park before you travel. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0). Smoke and usual clouds: Copernicus (CAMS, C3S). Aurora: NOAA SWPC. Night lights and Moon imagery: NASA. Moon names: IAU. Terrain: USGS and Copernicus. Places: Wikidata (CC0) and GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Meteor showers: IMO. Lunar eclipses: Fred Espenak, NASA's GSFC. Park data: National Park Service.
