One number, one ring, one goal. Tally Steps shows you how far you have walked today and nothing else. No coaching. No streaks. No badges for getting out of bed. It reads the step count your iPhone and Apple Watch already record, and it draws it plainly. TODAY A single ring against your daily goal, with distance and active energy underneath. Drag the goal, or type an exact one. THE MONTH, AND THE YEAR Every day as a square, darker the further you walked. Tap any day to see it, page back through earlier months, or open the year to find one. ON YOUR WRIST A watch app, and three complications for the corner, circular and rectangular slots — so the number is on your watch face without opening anything. WIDGETS Small and medium for the Home Screen, plus Lock Screen widgets. They keep up in the background. LIGHT OR DARK Follows your phone, or pin it either way in Settings. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT No account. No sign-up. No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. Nothing about your activity leaves your device — the app reads Health, stores a copy on your phone so the widgets can draw, and that is the whole of it. FREE The whole app, with nothing held back and nothing to unlock. If you would like to support it, Settings has a tip jar. It is entirely optional and changes nothing about the app. Requires access to Health for steps, walking and running distance, and active energy. Tally Steps only reads; it never writes anything back.
Pedometer

StepKit is a pedometer that stays out of your way: steps counted on this iPhone, a ring that fills as your day goes, a real Apple Watch app with your heart rate, and Home and Lock Screen widgets that actually work. TODAY, THIS WEEK, THIS MONTH Today opens on one big ring with your steps and the days of the week under it. Switch to Week or Month to see the whole stretch, or step back to yesterday and the weeks before it. SHARE YOUR DAY Every day, week and month can be shared as a card, in many styles: the ring, a big number, hour by hour, the week's bars, the month's calendar. ALWAYS ON YOUR WRIST AND HOME SCREEN Five Home Screen and five Lock Screen layouts show today's steps, this week, a 16-week heatmap or today's distance, or start a walk with one tap. On iOS 18 you can start one from Control Center, too. On Apple Watch, two complications put today's progress on the watch face. None of this sits behind Pro. A WALK OF ITS OWN Tap Start and StepKit tracks one walk at a time: steps, elapsed time, distance, pace, estimated calories, and your cadence over the last minute. On Apple Watch, a walk is a real workout — it keeps running with your wrist down, reads your heart rate, and saves itself to Apple Health when you're done. Allow Location and every walk keeps its route: see each one on a map in History. READS HEALTH, YOUR STEPS STAY ON YOUR DEVICES Your iPhone's motion sensor already holds your last seven days of steps. Turning on Apple Health sync — optional — brings in every day before that, with your iPhone and Apple Watch totals already merged. StepKit shows no ads, asks for no account, and your step history and routes never leave your devices. GOALS, A STREAK, AND SOME SMALL WINS Set a daily goal from 2,000 to 30,000 steps and StepKit tracks your streak against a weekly target of five goal days out of seven. Forty-four awards in six series mark real milestones: a first 10,000-step day, 100 days at your goal, a year-long streak. NOTIFICATIONS THAT FOLLOW YOUR DAY As the day goes on, StepKit tells you when you've passed halfway, when you're nearly there and when the goal is done. On a quiet day it nudges you at 1 p.m., and again in the evening if the goal is still open. At the start of each week it sums up the last one, ready to share. Every notification has its own switch, and none of them come from a server. WHAT STEPKIT PRO ADDS Counting, walks and their maps, the Apple Watch app, widgets, goals, notifications, awards and sharing your day come with the app. StepKit Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time purchase, with no trial. It adds: - Reports from your steps: your strongest weekdays, where the month is heading, how often you hit your goal, what your walks say, and how you compare with a year ago - Monthly report: each finished month on one page, ready to share - Replay every walk in 3D: the camera follows the route - Trend charts across your years, in plain words - All-time records, celebrated the day you beat them - All your years: every year on file, with a “My year” card to share - Adaptive goal: rises by a step you choose once your two-week average clears it - CSV export, and five neon colors for the app and its Home Screen icon PURCHASE DETAILS - StepKit Pro (Monthly) — the price is shown in the app before you subscribe - StepKit Pro (Yearly) — the price is shown in the app before you subscribe - StepKit Pro (Lifetime) — a one-time purchase; the price is shown in the app before you buy - Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. Verdict
Tally Steps and Pedometer are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
