Actually Read helps you track your books, protect your reading time, and actually read—whether you’re reading an EPUB, a PDF, or a physical book. • Focus on the book you chose. Start a reading session, set a timer, and use Deep Focus to block the apps, categories, and websites you choose with Screen Time. • See your reading add up. Track books and focus sessions, create custom reading lists, review your reading history, and return to a calm, customizable reading space built around your current book. • Read your way. Import EPUBs and PDFs, discover free public-domain books, search within books, save bookmarks, highlight passages, and pick up where you left off. • Ask better questions with grounded AI. Actually Read uses retrieval-based AI to help you engage with a book, not replace it with an AI digest. Ask about a theme, scene, or passage, get a Story So Far recap, or request a chapter summary when you’re ready. • Stay grounded in the text. Actually Read retrieves relevant passages from your book and uses them as context for each answer. Responses prioritize cited supporting passages you can open directly in the reader and can respect your reading progress to help avoid spoilers. • Keep your content close. Book indexing, embeddings, and retrieval happen on-device. On devices with Apple Intelligence enabled, on-device AI can answer questions without sending your questions or book content to the cloud. • Choose Advanced AI when you want it. Only your question and the relevant excerpts retrieved to answer it are sent to the cloud—never the full book. Actually Read is for reading with more attention, more context, and fewer distractions. Some features require compatible hardware, Apple Intelligence, Screen Time permission, or an internet connection. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
AI Haiku
Read full descriptionHide full description
A new haiku, several times a day. AI Haiku writes a fresh three-line poem a few times each day — five syllables, then seven, then five — each with a season word and a quiet cut between two images. Open the app and today's poem is waiting on a clean page, with nothing else to do but read it. • READ — the latest poem, full-bleed and calm. Swipe back through the most recent ones. • BROWSE — the whole archive laid out as a year calendar. Tap any day to read what appeared. • SEARCH — find poems by a word, a season, or a season-word (kigo). • SAVE — star the ones that stay with you. Your saved poems live only on your device. • NOTICE — turn on a gentle notification and get a nudge each time a new poem is published. • HOME SCREEN — add a widget to keep the latest, or a favorite, in view. • OFFLINE — poems are cached, so the app opens and reads without a signal. How the poems are made Every haiku is written fresh by AI, working to a strict brief: three lines of five, seven and five syllables, one concrete image rather than a statement, a seasonal anchor, and a cut the reader closes themselves. Each poem is checked against its syllable count before it is published. Nothing is edited by hand afterward, and nothing is ever removed — the archive keeps them all, filed by the day they appeared. Free, and quiet about it AI Haiku is free to read. The front page is only ever the poem; a single, clearly labelled advertisement appears once you browse deeper, on the archive and individual poems. We don't collect your name or email, and your saved poems and settings stay on your device. Read our privacy policy at nearmiss.dev/privacy. The same poems as haiku.nearmiss.dev, in a native app built for reading. Seventeen syllables. Several times a day.
