A timer for developing film at home. Black and white, C-41 and E-6 in one app, entirely on your device. THE CLOCK IS THE TRUTH Most timers count down, and a counter can stop — when a call comes in, when the system reclaims memory, when the app is force quit. Agitate stores the moment your step ends, not the seconds left in it. A call, a reboot, a phone that ran flat and came back: on return it works out where you are from the clock. There is nothing that can freeze, because there is nothing counting. BUILT FOR A DARK ROOM • Safelight mode: red on true black, screen driven to its lowest brightness, and the Live Activity uses the same palette so nothing lights up behind your back • The whole screen is the button, so you can start the next bath blind, in gloves, with wet hands • Every agitation is a tap in your hand. Sound if you want it, and it plays through the silent switch • Large tabular figures that do not jitter, readable across the room • A segment chain that always shows where you are in the process THE DETAILS OTHER TIMERS GET WRONG • The drain is called ten seconds before time, as the makers specify. A timer that simply rings at nine minutes gives you nine minutes and fifteen seconds of development, every time • Nudge the running step by fifteen seconds, or re-read the thermometer mid-run and let only the remainder be recalculated — without abandoning the run • Agitation as published: four inversions in the first ten seconds of each minute is one maker's scheme, five to seven inversions every thirty seconds is another's. They are not interchangeable. Stand and semi-stand are here too, marked as the community methods they are • Time and temperature converted for black and white between 14 and 27 °C, in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Refused for C-41 and E-6, where deviation is a colour shift that no extra time repairs • Minimum concentrate counted per film, not per tank. A 500 ml tank holds two 35 mm films, so a highly diluted developer can be half short while looking fine EVERY TIME FROM A DATASHEET Hundreds of published combinations, searchable, each row naming the manufacturer document it was transcribed from. No scraped database, no crowd-sourced numbers of unknown origin. If a combination cannot be sourced, it is not in here — write it as a recipe of your own instead, which is unlimited and free. WARNINGS BEFORE YOU POUR Expiry, exhaustion, minimum quantity, re-use surcharge and temperature tolerance are all in the free version. A warning behind a paywall would make the free version dangerous, so none of them are. AGITATE PRO Free develops your film. Pro remembers. • A development journal: every finished run with the film, the recipe, the temperature you actually measured, the push, and your own note. Searchable • A chemistry ledger: bottles with mixing date, fill level and film count, so the app knows when a developer is out of life or out of capacity • Export of all of it, recipes included, as CSV and JSON Pro is a one-time purchase. Not a subscription, nothing renews. PRIVACY No account or sign-up. The free version loads advertising from Google over the network, and Agitate Pro removes it. Your recipes and your journal never leave your device. Agitate is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any manufacturer of film, paper or chemistry. Photograph anywhere. Watch it become a comic. Point your camera at a ruin, a street corner, a café, or your own kitchen. ChronoCast reads the photograph, works out where and when it is, and hands you a sentence you can edit. Then it draws — four to six illustrated panels about that exact place, narrated aloud in a voice you choose. YOUR PHOTO, NOT A GENERIC SCENE Most AI tools treat your picture as a suggestion and hand back something beautiful about nowhere. ChronoCast sends your photograph to the illustrator with every single panel. The geometry, the landmarks, the vantage point stay recognisable underneath the artwork — so the comic is unmistakably about the place you were standing in. FOUR WORLDS • Socratic Anime — the figures who lived in this exact place, mid-argument about something that mattered to them. Warm, cel-shaded, theatrical. • Future-Sketch — the same corner in 2150, described by someone who watched it happen. Neon, rain, and a tired voice. • Noir — whatever happened here, it happened at night. Hand-inked black and white, hard shadows through window blinds, and a tired detective telling you how it went. • Pet's-Eye View — narrated by whoever actually lives there. Told from knee height by the cat or the dog, dating everything by the summer the window stayed open. FOUR NARRATORS The Wise Philosopher, grave and unhurried. The Gossip, who tells you the scandalous part first. The Weary Detective, who has seen how this ends. The Shōnen Herald, for whom everything is the turning point. Each has its own writing style and its own voice — the same photo told twice is two different films. THREE PERSPECTIVES Told as history. Told by a witness who stood there. Or told by the place itself — a bridge that has watched everything happen to it and measures time in centuries. YOU CORRECT THE AI ChronoCast shows you its guesses instead of hiding them. The place, the era, the narrator and the angle arrive as one editable sentence, and every underlined word is a button. If it thinks your modern footbridge is Roman, you can see that and fix it before a single panel is drawn. FACES THAT HOLD Generated comics usually fall apart by the third panel — the same character becomes three different strangers. ChronoCast writes a description of each character first and repeats it word for word into every panel, so your cast stays your cast from the first frame to the last. SHARE IT Export the whole comic as a 1080×1920 vertical video with a slow cinematic push over each panel and subtitles burned in, because social video is watched with the sound off. The video is assembled entirely on your phone and never leaves it until you choose to share. Ready for Reels, TikTok, or anywhere else. YOURS, ON YOUR DEVICE No account. No sign-up. No cloud library. Every comic you make is stored on your phone and belongs to you. YOUR FIRST COMIC IS FREE Try it on your own photo before deciding anything — no card, no trial to cancel. ChronoCast Pro adds every narrator, six panels instead of four, and video export: • $7.99/week — 10 comics a week • $23.99/month — 30 comics a month Or buy a one-off top-up of 10 comics for $9.99. Purchased credits never expire and no subscription is required. A NOTE ON WHAT IT MAKES ChronoCast is a storyteller, not a history book. Everything it writes is AI-generated fiction inspired by your photograph — evocative, but never a verified record. Enjoy it as a story. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
