SL-Frames turns an iPhone or iPad into a complete location-scouting and pre-production toolkit for directors, cinematographers, gaffers and location teams. Scout the frame, light and space; preserve the evidence; then edit the scout into material the production can use. FRAME THE SHOT Explore a production catalogue of more than 100 camera bodies and more than 100 lens series. Choose the camera active area, lens series, focal length, optical adapter, anamorphic squeeze and delivery ratio, then see the computed cine frameline over the live camera view. SL-Frames warns when the requested frame extends beyond the phone camera's available preview instead of inventing an image that is not there. PLAN SUN, MOON & TWILIGHT See when light reaches the location from your current position or a remote pin. Work in live AR, Map, Street View where supported, or an interactive sky compass. Save reusable Light Plans with sun, moon, golden hour, blue hour, moon path and twilight timing. BUILD SCOUT CARDS & SHOT LISTS Capture stills and reference motion with the selected cine frame. Keep camera, lens, crop, bearing, position, notes and light context together in a Scout Card. Arrange Scouts into an ordered set, export shareable Scout Sheets and Shot List PDFs, or send selected material deliberately to a linked Silverlines production. EDIT THE SCOUT ON LOCATION Scene Cut is a focused video editor for scouting. Trim and reorder captured motion, keep location sound under control, add narration, and assemble a production reference directly on the scout day without altering the source clips. Use the cut to prepare coverage, communicate intent and move into production with the location already understood. SCAN, REVIEW & WALK THE SPACE On supported LiDAR devices, capture a room with Apple's RoomPlan. Walls, doors, windows, openings and recognized objects are saved with the project and can be reopened as an interactive 3D model. Use OVERVIEW to orbit the complete space or WALK to move through it with separate MOVE and LOOK controls. Export the measured room and portable floor-plan material for later technical and production planning. Spatial capture is clearly identified as planning evidence, not survey-grade geometry. LOCAL BY DEFAULT No account is required for local capture, planning and export. Optional sign-in or an invitation can connect one local project to a restricted Silverlines delivery inbox. Uploads occur only through the connection controls shown in the app. ACCESS Eligible new Annual subscribers receive three days of complete SL-Frames access free, then the localized Annual price shown by Apple is charged unless cancelled. Apple confirms the exact price and terms before Face ID or password approval. Introductory-offer eligibility belongs to the Apple Account and subscription group; deleting or reinstalling the app does not restart it. Monthly and one-time Lifetime remain visible alternatives. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled and can be managed in Apple Account settings. Restore Purchases is available in the app. Privacy Policy: https://silverlines.app/legal/privacy/ Terms of Service: https://silverlines.app/legal/terms/ Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

About

Cinevisor

Features

Cinevisor is a director's viewfinder that doesn't stop at the frame. Pick the camera body, sensor mode, lens set and lens you're actually shooting on. The phone's camera is cropped and zoomed to match that rig's real field of view, so what you see on screen is what the lens will see. Framelines, safe areas, anamorphic desqueeze and a HUD with focal length, T-stop and field of view โ€” all of it running on the device, offline, free. Then tap the shutter and take it one step further: describe the light you want, and Cinevisor renders your exact frame with that lighting, that depth of field and that film look. Not a stock photo, not a mood board โ€” your location, your framing, lit the way you're pitching it. THE VIEWFINDER โ€ข Real field-of-view matching from the sensor mode and focal length, not an approximation โ€ข Camera bodies, sensor modes and lens sets from the manufacturers' own specifications โ€ข Swipe through a lens set; the preview ramps to the next focal length โ€ข Framelines for multiple ratios at once, custom aspects, safe areas, adjustable opacity โ€ข Anamorphic squeeze factors from 1.25x to 2x, viewed desqueezed โ€ข Monospaced HUD: focal length, horizontal and vertical FOV, sensor mode, T-stop โ€ข Works with no signal. The viewfinder never needs the network. DEPTH OF FIELD FROM REAL OPTICS The blur isn't guessed. Cinevisor reads the scene's depth, then computes the circle of confusion from the rig you picked โ€” focal length, T-stop, sensor size, focus distance โ€” and renders the falloff from that. Change the T-stop and the background separates the way that lens would actually separate it, with round bokeh on the highlights. THE AI LOOK โ€ข Describe the lighting in plain words: "early morning, sun through the window", "overcast soft", "sodium vapor at night" โ€ข Film stock and look presets, key direction, atmosphere, grain and halation โ€ข Your composition, your people and your architecture stay exactly where they are โ€ข Before/after slider on every render โ€ข Save to a project, export with the rig metadata, or share PROJECTS Organize captures by project and shot. Every frame keeps its rig: camera, sensor mode, lens, T-stop, framelines, location and time. Re-render any shot later with a different look. CREDITS The viewfinder, the framelines, the depth-of-field maths and the projects are free and unlimited. Only the AI renders cost credits, because only they cost real compute. One render, one credit. Credits never expire, they're tied to your Apple Account, and renders that fail are refunded automatically. Unlock Cinevisor once for 30 renders, and buy more in packs of 30, 60 or 120 whenever you need them. There is no subscription. PRIVACY The viewfinder runs entirely on your phone โ€” nothing leaves the device while you're framing. A photo is uploaded only when you tap Render, and only then. We ask for your permission before the first upload, in plain language, and the image is processed and discarded rather than stored on our servers. ABOUT THE RENDERS Renders are generated by an AI model from the frame you captured. They are a visualization of intent, not a photograph of what was there. Treat them the way you'd treat a concept frame in a lookbook. Made by a working filmmaker, for scouts, prep and the conversation where you have to show someone what you mean. Verdict

The call

SL and Cinevisor are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters โ€” price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them โ€” neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.

Scored on Price ยท Rating ยท Positive reviews ยท Number of ratings ยท Update frequency ยท Ads ยท In-app purchases ยท Monetization ยท Best chart rank ยท Devices ยท Requires iOS

CostPrice ยท In-app purchases ยท Ads ยท Monetization

Both are free to download. SL sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.00 per month and Cinevisor sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

SL ships an update every 3 days, Cinevisor every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
