Deep questions for couples, friends and family โ€” ordered by how deep they go. Fathm is a conversation starter that measures depth the way a fathom measures water. You pick who you are with and how far down you want to go. The app serves one question at a time. You answer out loud. You can pass on anything. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick who you are with โ€” your partner, a friend, your family, someone new, or yourself. Add someone by name and the questions will use it. 2. Pick a topic. Topics are ordered shallow to deep, each with a depth reading from โˆ’2 m to โˆ’200 m. 3. Talk. One question fills the screen, and after a few seconds the buttons fade away so only the question is left. WHAT IS INSIDE โ€ข 11 topics, from Easy Icebreakers (โˆ’2 m) and The Present (โˆ’4 m) through Friendship, The Past and Self-knowledge to Relationship (โˆ’70 m), Intimacy (โˆ’90 m) and Deep Water (โˆ’200 m) โ€ข Questions that say their name โ€” add the person you are talking with and the deck speaks to the two of you instead of "your partner". The name never leaves your phone. โ€ข 6 occasion packs: road trip, meeting the parents, long-distance, before the wedding, new parents, reconnecting โ€ข Talk live, together โ€” one deck, every phone. Share a conversation code and everyone sees the same question at the same moment, side by side or continents apart. โ€ข Made for you two โ€” say a few words about your situation and the questions adapt to it โ€ข Depth map โ€” see which topics you have explored and how deep you have been, per person โ€ข History โ€” look back on past conversations and the questions in them โ€ข Favourites โ€” save a question and share it as a card โ€ข Gentle reminders, off by default and never nagging โ€ข 17 languages, following your device BUILT FOR THE CONVERSATION, NOT FOR THE SCREEN No streaks. No badges. No confetti. Nothing that rewards how often you open the app. The best session is the one where you looked at each other, not at your phone โ€” which is why the chrome fades and the loop is three taps to a question. SAFE BY DESIGN โ€ข Passing is free โ€” no reason asked, nothing recorded โ€ข A quiet check-in before the questions get heavier, and a closing reflection at the end โ€ข Your answers are never stored. What you type into personalisation shapes the questions and is then discarded. โ€ข Fathm is not therapy and does not pretend to be. If a conversation goes somewhere hard, we point to a helpline. FREE AND PRO Free is genuinely generous: every question down to โˆ’30 m, forever, with no daily cap โ€” plus three dives into the deep, on us. Fathm Pro unlocks the descent โ€” the deep topics (Parent & Child โˆ’60 m, Relationship โˆ’70 m, Intimacy โˆ’90 m, Deep Water โˆ’200 m), all six occasion packs, personalised questions, history and the depth map. Pro is free for 7 days on the annual plan, and we remind you before the trial ends. Questions to ask your partner. Questions for friends. Icebreakers for someone new. Or something to ask yourself. Fathm gives you the question you would never think to ask. An account is required (email or Google sign-in). Privacy Policy: https://fathm.app/privacy Terms of Use: https://fathm.app/terms

About

Ember

Some of the warmest nights start with one good question. Ember is a full conversation deck in your pocket: couples questions from first-date sparks to decades-deep, party games that run themselves, and a family game night deck the whole table can play. Every question is written by humans โ€” warm, curious, and made to be read out loud. It all works on one phone, passed around the couch or the table. Your answers are spoken, the way good conversations happen. Ember has no accounts, no servers, and stores nothing you say. ONE PHONE, SAME ROOM No second install, no partner account, no sign-up to skip. Hand the phone around โ€” couples on the couch, six friends at a table, the family after dinner. SPOKEN, NOT STORED There is nowhere to type an answer, so there is nothing to keep. Player names in party rounds live only until you close the round. The only thing Ember can save is a question you choose to keep โ€” on your phone, deletable in one tap. COUPLES QUESTIONS โ€” FIRST SPARKS TO LONG HAUL Eight decks of relationship questions for every stage: First Sparks for the early days, Deeper for the questions under the questions, Date Night, Long Haul, Long Distance, Money & Dreams, and a gentle Repair deck for finding the way back. Flip any card for a deeper follow-up on its back. If you have ever wondered what to talk about on a date night, this is the deck for it. PARTY GAMES THAT RUN THEMSELVES Most Likely To, Would You Rather, Hot Seat, and Two Truths & a Lie โ€” structured party rounds with a pass-the-phone beat, an optional gentle timer, and a playful summary at the end. Plus Icebreakers, Deep 2AM, and New Friends decks for tables still learning each other. Two to twelve players, no scores kept. Good icebreaker questions for a group that has just met, and better ones for a group that has not. FAMILY GAME NIGHT, ALL AGES Game Night, Road Trip, Grandparents' Stories, and Kids Ask โ€” where the kids hold the phone and the grown-ups have to answer. A child can draw any card. Family dinner questions that survive the drive home. TONIGHT'S QUESTION One shared question every evening, the same everywhere. A card sits face-down like a candle โ€” turn it over together. No streaks count it, and it waits without nagging. MADE TO BE READ ALOUD Questions are set in a warm serif at sizes you can read across a table. Candlelight theme for the couch, Daylight for the kitchen table. EVERY CORE DECK INCLUDED All nineteen decks, every party mode, and Tonight's Question ship included, with seasonal bonus decks appearing through the year. Good questions, warm nights. Nothing you say leaves the room.
