Shalom Table

Shalom Table helps you prepare for, host, and share Shabbat and Jewish holiday meals โ whether it is your first time or your thousandth. It answers four questions the moment you open it: what is coming next, exactly when it begins and ends where you are, what to prepare, and what your family can read and talk about at the table. TIMES YOU CAN CHECK Candle lighting, sunset, and Havdalah for your location, with the reasoning shown. Not just "6:58 PM", but "6:58 PM โ Phoenix, Arizona โ 18 minutes before sunset โ general Diaspora setting". Every time names where it applies and how it was worked out. Customs are not universal, so they are settings rather than assumptions. Choose the Israel or Diaspora calendar, your candle-lighting practice, and how Havdalah is determined โ or say you are not sure and get careful general defaults with a nudge to confirm with your own community. Where a time genuinely cannot be calculated โ far-northern locations in midsummer, for instance โ the app says so plainly and points you to local guidance. It will never show you an invented time. A HOST'S PLAN A preparation timeline that counts backward from candle lighting, so you know when to finish cooking and when to set the table. An editable checklist that adds holiday-specific items on its own. Roles you can assign around the table and reuse each week. READY BEFORE IT BEGINS Many households prefer not to use a phone once Shabbat starts. So the printable packet is a core feature, not an afterthought: times, dates, the order of the evening, the blessings, the reading, and discussion questions โ on paper, before you need them. Everything also works offline. A DUAL CALENDAR Hebrew and Gregorian together, with holidays, Torah portions, fasts, and Rosh Chodesh. It shows clearly that a Jewish day begins the evening before, so a holiday never appears to start at midnight. FOR THE WHOLE TABLE The weekly Torah portion with a short passage and discussion material written for who is actually there โ young children, older children, teenagers, adults, or a mixed family where the conversation moves through all of them in turn. All 53 weekly portions have material for every one of them, at five lengths from a single question to a full source sheet. Where a passage or a piece of material has not been written and reviewed yet, the app says so plainly rather than filling the gap with generated text. BLESSINGS Hebrew with and without vowel marks, with transliteration you can read aloud, alongside English, with the instructions for each step. Every text shows its source and license. WIDGETS AND SIRI Candle lighting and the Hebrew date at a glance on your Home and Lock Screen. Ask Siri when Shabbat ends. PRIVACY No account. No sign-in. No advertising. No data sold. Nothing is collected about children โ you pick an age range for content, never a name or a birthday. Your location is used to work out times and is not kept as a history, and you can delete all location data in one tap. ABOUT PRACTICE Jewish practice varies by community and family. Shalom Table shows its sources and labels its assumptions, and it is not a substitute for your rabbi or your local community's guidance. Where our defaults and your practice differ, yours governs. Free, with no in-app purchases.
ActivePray

ActivePray is a prayer app for daily religious practice. Prayer times, the right calendar, the appointed days, and the scripture to read โ set to the branch you follow, and working whether or not you have a signal. THREE FAITHS. EIGHT BRANCHES. Judaism (Karaite, Conservative / Masorti, Reform) Islam (Sunni, Shia) Christianity (Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant) The layout is shared. Nothing else is. Each branch keeps its own calendar โ its own months, its own leap years, its own hour at which a day begins โ and its own prayers, fasts and dates. Where two branches disagree, each is followed on its own terms rather than averaged into one. THE FIVE TABS Today โ the next prayer, the whole day's times, and what today is in your own calendar: ordinary, a fast, or a day set apart. Prayer โ the services, the readings, the psalms and the prayers appointed for the day, in the original script alongside the English, and how each is prayed, step by step, from your branch's own prayer book. With a guided washing flow when your branch asks for one. Your book โ the Qur'an, the Tanakh or the Bible: today's reading, where you left off, and what you have saved. Calendar โ your branch's own calendar with its appointed dates inline, and the detail behind any day. Active โ the daily ring, streaks, mercy days and badges, for showing up. Search finds any prayer, chapter or holy day on your path. Your profile opens from your photo: your month's intention, your branch, reminders and settings. Plus a compass pointing where your branch faces, places of worship near you with halal and kosher food, your mosque's own times, every fast with its times, a Live Activity counting down to the next prayer, Home and Lock Screen widgets, reminders built per branch, and light or dark. RECKONED ON YOUR PHONE Every time in this app is calculated from where you are and where the sun is โ nothing is fetched, so nothing breaks when you are offline. The dates have been checked one by one against outside authorities, and where the app disagrees with a published table, the disagreement is recorded rather than quietly smoothed over. PRIVATE BY BUILD, NOT BY PROMISE No analytics. No advertising. No tracking. Your name, streaks, history, saved verses and photo stay on your device and in your own iCloud, which we cannot read. Your location is used on your device to work out your times and is never sent to us. The single exception is your username, which has to be unique and so lives in a database we keep โ and the privacy policy says exactly what is in it. In the app, Settings โบ Your privacy says it in ten plain lines. ACTIVE+ (OPTIONAL) The core is free and stays free: every prayer time, the sun and moon times your calendar turns on, the calendar itself, the compass, places of worship near you, every fast with its times, reminders, and the Home Screen widget. Active+ adds a private prayer journal, end-to-end encrypted in your iCloud, with notes on the verses you keep; custom reminder timing; a morning prayer alarm that rings even on silent; Lock Screen widgets, and widgets you mark a prayer from; the Year in Prayer (your year month by month, your most-kept prayers and every streak); your heart in prayer, read from Apple Health; Quiet Progress for practising without the numbers; alternate app icons; and the pilgrimage planner. โฌ2.99 a month or โฌ24.99 a year, with two weeks free to start, auto-renewing until cancelled. Payment is charged to your Apple Account on confirmation of purchase, and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in Settings, under your Apple Account.
