Encuadre is the companion for anyone who just bought their first real camera (DSLR or mirrorless) and still isn't sure what ISO, aperture, and shutter speed actually do beyond "auto mode." Your phone doesn't take the photo or replace the camera. You point it at the same scene you're about to shoot, pick a technique, and Encuadre explains live how those three settings relate to each other for that light and that subject — so you make the call, not the app. WHAT'S INCLUDED • 7 scene modes (outdoor portrait, landscape/golden hour, panning, action portrait, night portrait, studio/indoor portrait, focus), each calibrated to its own light and motion conditions. • Interactive exposure triangle: drag ISO, aperture, or shutter speed with your finger and feel in real time how the other two compensate to keep the same exposure — and what happens when one of the three hits its limit. • Focal length and lens-type recommendations per mode, with workarounds for anyone still shooting with their kit lens. • Concepts: 19 reference topics — exposure triangle, camera and scene modes, metering, exposure compensation, depth of field, focus, image stabilization, long exposure, white balance, color theory, flash, light modifiers, golden/blue hour, composition, RAW vs. JPEG, histogram, double exposure, and photographic styles — to help you find your own style, not just get a correct exposure. • Bilingual: Spanish and English, detects your phone's language. PRIVACY 100% on-device. Encuadre doesn't collect, store, or send any data or image to any server. The camera is used only for the live preview — no photo is ever taken or saved inside the app. Bokeh is left out on purpose: it depends on accurately estimating subject distance, and not every phone does that equally well.
Compo

Most camera apps hand you a grid. Compo tells you what to do with it. Pick a shot recipe (Golden Hour Backlight, Room to Look, 45° Diner's View) and Compo draws its composition straight onto the live viewfinder: where the subject sits, where the eye travels, and what angle to shoot from. A live angle badge counts your tilt as you move, and turns green the moment you hit the angle the shot was built for. WHAT YOU GET • 32 shot recipes across portrait, food, product, landscape and architecture • Placement guides drawn on the live frame: drag a handle to fit them to your actual subject • Live angle guidance from the gyroscope, with a haptic tap at the target • A four-step checklist on every recipe: light, angle, zoom, placement • The reason each shot works, with a diagram and a finished photograph • Simulated aperture, applied to the photo you saved, not a preview trick • Live Photo capture • An album of what you shot, each frame captioned with the recipe you framed it with YOUR PHOTO IS A PHOTO The overlay is interface, not artwork. Nothing is ever burned into the file: what lands in your library is a full-resolution photograph with the guides gone. FREE TO START Eight recipes, the whole camera, the guides, the angle feedback and the checklists are free, forever. Compo Vol. 1 unlocks the remaining 24 recipes across every category as a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription. Nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel. Vol. 1 stays unlocked on every device signed in to the same Apple ID. PRIVACY Your camera frames, your photos and your motion readings stay on your device. Compo has no account, no advertising, no analytics SDK and no cross-app tracking. When you open the album, it looks up only the photos it saved itself. Requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Camera access is asked for when you first frame a shot, not at launch, so you can browse every recipe before granting anything.

Verdict
Encuadre and Compo are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.

Both are free to download. Encuadre sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Compo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
