Fretwise is a guitar practice app built on the fretboard: scales, chords, a tuner, a metronome and exercises that play as tab. Every note sounds like a plucked string, so theory becomes something you can hear and play. PRACTICE • 282 exercises that play as tab with a click: warm-ups, picking, legato, bends, arpeggios, rhythm and fingerstyle, plus exercises in the style of 70 players • Scale sequences, three notes per string, triads, arpeggios and chord changes in any key and position • Routines (Pro): exercises back to back as one scrolling tab, each at its own tempo, with a speed trainer, burst blocks and nine ready-made routines • For everyone: a new Daily 15 routine every day and one Pro exercise open each day • Your best tempo for every exercise, and a Mastered badge after ten full plays • A practice streak: play 5 minutes a day and watch it grow; one missed day a week does not break it • A progress page with five weeks of practice, the tempos you raised and your milestones, and a daily reminder at the time you choose TUNER • Tune with the microphone in 10 tunings: Standard, Drop D, Drop C, Half-Step Down, D Standard, Open D, Open G, Open E, Open A and DADGAD • Any note mode for whatever you play, with the cents and a reference pitch from 430 to 450 Hz METRONOME • 30 to 260 BPM, 1 to 12 beats, accents and odd groupings like 2+2+3, and tap tempo • 11 rhythms, from 8ths, triplets and 16ths to swing, dotted and quintuplets • Keeps playing while you move around the app SCALES & MODES • 65 scales and modes in all 12 keys: every mode of the major, melodic minor, harmonic minor and harmonic major scales, pentatonic, blues, bebop, diminished, whole-tone and exotic scales • Five CAGED positions for every scale • Notes, scale degrees, fingers or dots, spelled correctly for every key • Target tones highlight each scale's chord tones CHORDS • 56 chord types: triads, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, suspended, added-tone and altered chords • Up to seven shapes per chord, including the CAGED forms, in every key, with fingerings • Tap any voicing to hear it strummed CHORD & SCALE FINDER (PRO) • Tap the frets of any shape and Fretwise names the chord, with its inversion or slash bass • Tap notes on the neck and see every scale that contains them PROGRESSION BUILDER (PRO) • Build a progression, give each chord its own length, set the tempo and loop it with a click • Start from 51 genre loops, from blues and jazz to flamenco and metal, and save your own THEORY LAB (PRO) • Seven short lessons, each on one movable picture: intervals, modes, comparing scales, building chords, scales over a chord and the circle of fifths • Songwriter Handbook: the chords of any key, sorted by mood and tension MAQAM & MAKAM • 8 Arabic maqamat and 9 Turkish makamlar on the guitar neck, with the quarter tones and commas between the frets • Authentic view shows where each pitch lies; Standard view shows the fret to play and how far to bend • Ajnas and çeşniler, sayr and seyir, and an example phrase for every mode ALSO • Name the Note: a fretboard game for your note memory • Chord shapes and scale positions in 7 tunings • One search for chords, scales, maqam, exercises and lessons • Note names as letters or solfège (Do Re Mi) • Favorites for the scales, chords and positions you use most • In English, Spanish, Turkish, French, German, Arabic, Russian, Italian and Portuguese Fretwise Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription: it adds practice routines and the full exercise library, the Chord & Scale Finder, the Progression Builder, the Theory Lab and the Songwriter Handbook.

Guitar Codex is the app you reach for every time you pick up a guitar. Find a chord, run a scale, tune up, or sit down for a proper lesson. It works for total beginners and for players twenty years in. THE TOOLS Chord Finder: tap the frets on a blank fretboard and watch the chord names appear. Play a shape you can’t name and find out what it is, or build a chord note by note and see how it’s made. Note Map: every note on the neck, lit up by octave. Pick a note and see every place it lives, then open a tip and watch the octave pattern drawn right on the fretboard. Chromatic tuner with a smooth needle and presets for Standard, Drop D, Open G, DADGAD, and more. Reference pitch is adjustable from 432 to 445 Hz. Metronome with tap tempo, time signatures, and a visual beat indicator. An interactive circle of fifths: tap any key and see its seven chords, its key signature, and its relative key. THE LIBRARIES Every chord, scale, arpeggio, and triad renders on the same big, high-contrast fretboard diagram, with each note color-coded by its job in the shape: root, 3rd, 5th, and so on. You learn why a shape works, not just where your fingers go. Chords: every common type and voicing, with CAGED positions up the whole neck Scales: five boxes per scale, a full-neck view, and advice on when to use each one Triads: three string sets, three inversions each, all on one page Arpeggios: chord tones mapped across the neck for every quality THE COURSE 140 lessons in 12 modules take you from holding the guitar for the first time through chords, scales, theory, the CAGED system, progressions, modes, songwriting, technique, genre studies, and fretboard and ear mastery. Lessons teach with diagrams and real songs, and they’re written to be read with the guitar in your hands. All of Module 1 is free. Guitar Codex has no subscription and never will. The free version includes the Chord Finder, the Note Map, the full tuner, the metronome, and a real taste of everything else. Two optional one-time purchases unlock the rest: Pro, the complete reference toolkit, and Complete, which adds all 140 lessons plus every lesson added in the future. Buy it once and it is yours for good.
