Some kids can calculate correctly and still get stuck on word problems. Think Why helps them slow down, make sense of the story, and see how the quantities fit together. Lessons use movable diagrams, short prompts, and guided practice. Children learn to: • identify what the question is asking • pick out useful information • connect quantities before choosing an operation • explain what an intermediate result means • check the answer in the original story • try the same idea in a new situation Think Why is designed for understanding, not speed or endless worksheets. Content is organized into six stages, from elementary foundations to more challenging reasoning. Try it free: • 2 complete courses in each stage • 1 Thinking Method • 1 Reasoning Challenge • practice for the included courses A one-time Full Learning Path purchase unlocks all 115 courses, 345 guided levels, 14 Thinking Methods, 12 Reasoning Challenges, full practice, stage check-ins, and weekly challenges. No subscription. No account, ads, tracking, or chat-based AI. Learning progress stays on this device. Purchases and restoration are handled by Apple.

Read full descriptionHide full description
A daily arithmetic practice app for elementary school children. It covers the full elementary curriculum from grade 1 to grade 6 as timed drills, and records your best time and best score for every course. ■ Units unlock by grade 47 units, from counting in grade 1 to ratios in grade 6. Only the units up to the grade you choose will appear, so children never get stuck on something they have not been taught yet. ■ Built for the calculation cards used as homework 90 addition cards from 1+1 to 10+9, plus the 90 subtraction cards that mirror them. Work through the same deck used at school while the timer runs. ■ Problems adapt to the child The app looks at how quickly a question is answered, not only whether it was right, and picks problems at a difficulty that fits. Not so easy that it gets boring, not so hard that the child stops. ■ Word problems start with building the equation Read the sentence, choose the equation, then calculate. Change a setting and the child writes the equation themselves. The answer needs a unit too, so units never get forgotten. ■ Mental arithmetic read aloud (soroban style) Questions are read out loud and answered from memory. ■ Hints show how to think, not the answer Number lines and diagrams show the approach. A hint never simply gives the result. ■ Mistakes come back later Missed questions are remembered and shown again after a gap, when they are just about to be forgotten. ■ Units included Grade 1 counting, addition, subtraction, carrying, borrowing Grade 2 two-digit arithmetic, times tables, units of length and weight, telling time Grade 3 division, remainders, long multiplication, large numbers, fractions, decimals Grade 4 rounding, decimal multiplication and division, like fractions, order of operations, area, angles Grade 5 multiples and factors, LCM and GCD, primes, unlike fractions, averages, percentages, speed, volume Grade 6 fraction multiplication and division, ratios, area of a circle, letters in equations Advanced positive and negative numbers, prime factorisation, classic Japanese word problems No ads. All records stay on the device.
