Wordaboo

Wordaboo teaches a language the way you would actually learn one: a few minutes at a time, with pictures instead of translations, every word spoken aloud — and grammar explained in terms of the language you already speak. GRAMMAR EXPLAINED IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE Most apps write one explanation and translate it into forty languages. Wordaboo writes a different one for every pair, because what confuses you depends on what you already speak. THIRTY-NINE COURSES, ALL TO C1 • For English speakers: French, Spanish, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese and Uzbek • English for speakers of French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Uzbek, Turkish, Indonesian, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Urdu and Bengali • Spanish for French, Russian, German and Italian speakers; French for Spanish, Russian, German and Italian speakers; German for Spanish, Russian and French speakers; Italian for French and Spanish speakers; and Brazilian Portuguese for Spanish speakers 9,999 lessons, 10,001 grammar explanations and 46,832 words and phrases, all spoken aloud. Japanese starts with hiragana, Russian with the alphabet, Arabic with its letters and every vowel written in, and Chinese with pinyin and the four tones. THE WHOLE APP SPEAKS YOUR LANGUAGE Every screen, in sixteen languages: English, Russian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Uzbek, Turkish, Indonesian, Hindi, Arabic (right to left), Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Urdu (right to left) and Bengali. MORE THAN LESSONS • Stories: illustrated scenes to read and hear, with questions as you go • Roleplay: short conversations, from the bakery to a job interview • Blip, an AI tutor that runs entirely on your phone (beta, on some courses and phones) • Live 1v1 word games against friends or anyone, and a weekly league • Letters & sounds: train your ear on the sounds your own language blurs together • A grammar book of every explanation you have reached, with search HOW IT WORKS • Lessons of about four minutes • A placement test, so you never start below your level • A daily goal you choose, and streaks with a freeze for the day you miss • Chapters mapped to the A1–C1 scale schools use. BUILT TO BE HONEST • No third-party analytics in the app • Friends is off until you switch it on, and there is no messaging • Delete your account from inside the app Wordaboo is free. Premium is optional: no ads, unlimited hearts and bubbles, and lessons you can take offline. Learn Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian and English. Xolingo turns anything you read into a personal lesson. Tap the words you don't know while you read. They go into your word bank with the sentence you met them in, stay highlighted everywhere until they stick, and come back as quick practice rounds built from your own vocabulary. As a word becomes familiar the highlight fades — and when you master it, it leaves the page for good. READ SOMETHING WORTH READING • Short courses that start at absolute beginner and build in order • Leveled articles labelled A1 through B2+, so you can read slightly above your comfort • Complete books in the original language, chapter by chapter • Your own material: paste text, open an EPUB, share a link from Safari, or pull the captions from a video SAVE WHAT YOU ACTUALLY MEET Tap a word or select a phrase and Xolingo shows its meaning, examples, and the sentence it came from. Bundled offline dictionaries cover most words; on-device machine translation fills the gaps without sending your reading anywhere. PLAY THE WORDS BACK The Arcade turns your saved vocabulary into short fill-in-the-blank rounds. Ten questions, real sentences, streaks and ranks. Practice the words you personally collected, or work through frequency decks covering the most common words, from the first hundred up to the first thousand, plus themed decks for work, travel, food, health, and money. Flash cards are there too when you'd rather drill. SEE IT ADD UP Word bank size by familiarity, words mastered, reading time, listening time, day streaks and arcade ranks — all on your device. FIVE LANGUAGES, BOTH DIRECTIONS English, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil), and Italian. Each one works as the language you already speak or the one you're learning, and the whole app — interface, translations, word cards — follows your choice. READ ALOUD Hear any word, sentence, or whole text in the voice already on your phone. Xolingo marks which voices work offline and prefers them automatically. WORKS OFFLINE, WORKS QUIETLY Keep texts on your device for a flight or a commute. There is no account to create, no advertising, no behavioural tracking, and no learner profile on our servers — your word bank and reading history stay on your phone. FREE AND PRO Xolingo is free to use. Reading and read-aloud are unlimited. Free learners can translate and save five new words or phrases per local calendar day and can play the Arcade frequency decks for ranks 1–100 and 101–200. Reopening saved vocabulary does not use another slot. Xolingo Pro removes the daily new-vocabulary limit and unlocks every Arcade deck, including the deck generated from your Word Bank. It is available as an auto-renewing monthly subscription at US$6.99 or an auto-renewing yearly subscription at US$69.99, which is two months free against the monthly price. The store shows the exact localized price, period, renewal terms, and any introductory offer before purchase. Manage or cancel through the store or Xolingo's Customer Center.
