FOR NUMBER PUZZLE PLAYERS Enjoy Sudoku, Nonogram or Kakuro? Try a different kind of deduction with Shikaku. The rules are short; larger grids give you more possibilities to work through. ADS AND OPTIONAL PURCHASE Recto is free to play. Ads may appear between levels, never while you are solving a board. Watch an optional rewarded ad to earn extra hints. An optional one-time purchase removes between-level ads. No subscription. Think in rectangles. Solve the grid with Recto.
kerf

kerf is a stacking game stripped to one decision: when to let go. A block slides across the screen. You tap. Whatever hangs over the edge is cut away and falls, and the tower gets that much narrower. Land it dead center and you get the width back, the combo climbs, and the score multiplies. There is nothing else to learn, and no way to blame anything but your own timing. FIVE WAYS TO PLAY Classic โ endless. One miss ends the run. Daily โ one seeded attempt a day, the same tower for everyone, a fresh leaderboard every midnight UTC. Zen โ a miss costs you width, not the run. Stack until the block is a sliver. Precision โ the first imperfect landing ends it. Four points of tolerance, nothing more. Sprint โ sixty seconds, starting fast and getting faster. BUILT TO BE QUIET No ads. No energy meters, no coins, no wheel to spin, no notification asking where you have been. Nothing in the game is for sale that touches how it plays. The whole thing is drawn, not downloaded: flat ink on paper, one accent color, no rounded corners anywhere. Sound is synthesized live from a pentatonic scale, so every landing is a note in key and a broken combo is the one note that isn't. Light and dark themes both ship finished, not inverted as an afterthought. Plays entirely offline. No account required. GAME CENTER Five leaderboards โ one per mode, with Daily resetting every day โ and ten achievements worth 640 points. Sign in if you want them; the game never waits on it and never nags. MAKE IT YOURS Six accent tones, four app icons and a share card, free. Change the accent and the tower changes with it. KERF COMPLETE โ ONE PURCHASE A single non-consumable unlock, no subscription: ยท 18 accent tones instead of 6 ยท 8 app icons instead of 4 ยท 4 synthesized sound packs instead of 1 ยท 4 block surface textures ยท 5 share card themes ยท Zen, Precision and Sprint, permanently ยท The full daily archive โ every past day, playable for practice Every premium mode is playable once for free before you decide. Family Sharing is on. kerf is the sliver of wood a saw takes out of a cut. It is the part you lose to be precise, which is the entire game.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: kerf at none against Shikaku Puzzle's shown. Shikaku Puzzle's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
