Both are free to download. LegibleNote Lite sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Notepad sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Notepad holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of LegibleNote Lite's written reviews are positive against 54% of Notepad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
LegibleNote Lite ships an update every 13 months, Notepad every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
