Compo

Most camera apps hand you a grid. Compo tells you what to do with it. Pick a shot recipe (Golden Hour Backlight, Room to Look, 45° Diner's View) and Compo draws its composition straight onto the live viewfinder: where the subject sits, where the eye travels, and what angle to shoot from. A live angle badge counts your tilt as you move, and turns green the moment you hit the angle the shot was built for. WHAT YOU GET • 32 shot recipes across portrait, food, product, landscape and architecture • Placement guides drawn on the live frame: drag a handle to fit them to your actual subject • Live angle guidance from the gyroscope, with a haptic tap at the target • A four-step checklist on every recipe: light, angle, zoom, placement • The reason each shot works, with a diagram and a finished photograph • Simulated aperture, applied to the photo you saved, not a preview trick • Live Photo capture • An album of what you shot, each frame captioned with the recipe you framed it with YOUR PHOTO IS A PHOTO The overlay is interface, not artwork. Nothing is ever burned into the file: what lands in your library is a full-resolution photograph with the guides gone. FREE TO START Eight recipes, the whole camera, the guides, the angle feedback and the checklists are free, forever. Compo Vol. 1 unlocks the remaining 24 recipes across every category as a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription. Nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel. Vol. 1 stays unlocked on every device signed in to the same Apple ID. PRIVACY Your camera frames, your photos and your motion readings stay on your device. Compo has no account, no advertising, no analytics SDK and no cross-app tracking. When you open the album, it looks up only the photos it saved itself. Requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Camera access is asked for when you first frame a shot, not at launch, so you can browse every recipe before granting anything.
Composly

You do not need to learn photography terms to frame a better shot. Composly checks the live camera view and gives you one clear action at a time. Move left or right, step closer or back, or level the shot. Each cue is easy to follow and helps you fix the frame before you press the shutter. Solo Portrait and Social Profile modes are free, with full composition coaching and best-shot selection. Composly Premium unlocks six more modes for the scene in front of you: - Couple & Friends: Improve spacing and balance between two people. - Group: Check blocked faces, eye level, and spacing. - Travel & Landmark: Balance people with the place behind them. - Food: Frame the plate from overhead or at 45 degrees. - Scenery: Level the horizon and add depth to the view. - Product & Resale: Center the product and keep clean space around it. After shooting, Composly can suggest the best photo based on sharpness, exposure, face quality, and composition. Optional leveling and cropping leave the original untouched. Camera frames and original photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded to a server. Shooting, basic guidance, and saving work without an internet connection. Composly Premium is an auto-renewing subscription. An annual plan (with a 7-day free trial) and a monthly plan are available; the exact price is shown before you confirm a purchase and is charged to your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed in your Apple ID account settings. Verdict
Compo and Composly are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Compo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Composly sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
