Minimum Effort

You have a job. You do not want to do it. Minimum Effort is a satirical workplace strategy game. Every workday runs from 09:00 to 17:00, and everything you can do with those 480 minutes trades three things against each other: the time it saves you, the output it actually produces, and how conspicuous it makes you. The goal is not to be good at your job. It is to find the least amount of work that survives. HOW A DAY WORKS โข Do the work, fake the work, or avoid it entirely. Looking busy covers part of a shortfall when the boss checks the deliverables. It never files the report. โข The boss patrols the floor. When he walks past in the middle of something you get a couple of seconds to look busy . and less time the hotter you already are. โข Repeat an act and it gets riskier every time. The fourth bathroom break is not the first bathroom break. โข Colleagues talk. Each one has their own trust in you and their own doubts, and a rumour that crosses the floor twice reaches the boss's office from a direction you were not watching. THE PEOPLE Your accomplice will cover for you. The overachiever notices an unearned win. The snitch keeps a note of when people leave their desk. The gossip has already told two other people. You can chat, delegate your work, ask somebody to cover, genuinely help them . or put your name on their work, which they never forget. PROMOTIONS ARE A TRAP Every rung on the ladder pays more and expects more. Getting promoted is easy. Staying just competent enough not to be fired, one rung higher, with a bigger quota and the same amount of effort . that is the game. FIVE CAREERS - Corporate. Easy. Meetings, decks and a quarterly review nobody reads. - Startup. Chaotic. Twelve people, no structure, and everybody notices everything. - Consulting. Medium. Frameworks, workstreams, and never being the one with the answer. - Investment banking. Extreme. Enormous money, enormous work, and an associate who never leaves. - Home office. Nobody can see you and everything is measured. The green dot is your new boss and it cannot be charmed. Corporate and Startup are included. Consulting and Investment Banking are unlocked together by the Career Pack. Home Office is its own pack. Both are one purchase each, not a subscription, nothing recurring, and either one removes the advertising. THE ONLY SCORE THAT MATTERS Total money earned, divided by hours you actually worked. Retire at the top of a ladder having been paid for years and worked for weeks, and the number on your record board will say so. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No account and no sign-in. Your careers are saved on your device and nothing about them leaves it. It does show advertising, which Google's ad kit loads over the network, and either pack removes it. Minimum Effort is a work of satire. The offices, the colleagues and the careers are invented, and nothing in it is advice about a real job. Recommendations for our other apps load online. Property Tycoon

You start with $150,000 and a desk at home. On the edge of town there is a tired little house nobody wants. Buy it, fix it up, and decide: rent it out, or sell it and do it again. Property Tycoon is a business simulation in the spirit of the classic dev-studio tycoons, set in real estate. Grow from one house to a development firm, then to a corporate headquarters with your name on the skyline. The home-office years are free to play. One in-app purchase, the full game, unlocks the storefront agency, the development firm, the corporate HQ and everything they open. A STORY WITH A RIVAL Harbor City. In 1979 Dot Marchetti built the tired little houses on the edge of town; in the '92 bust the bank took her company. Now she is 71, retired and not finished. She points you at the worst house on a decent street, one she built, and declares your kitchen table head office. Escrow the cat is the board. Across town Sterling Castellane, who owns half the skyline, tells the Harbor Ledger there is no room left for small builders. Chapter One, The Kitchen Table, is free: from one tired house to the edge of a real agency on Dot's old corner. So is the Kitchen Table League after it: Sterling's branch across the road and the Harbor Cup against it. Chapters Two to Four, up to the Skyline Commission, come with the full game. Pick Story or Sandbox when you start a company: Sandbox is the same city and economy with no cards or characters. FLIP AND RENT Buy homes on a living isometric city map. Every home has a condition, a quality and a market rent. Renovate to lift both, set each building's rent against the market, and watch tenants move in, pay and move out. Or list the place for sale and move on to the next one. BUILD LIKE A DEVELOPER Choose from ten blueprints, from single-family houses to skyscrapers and mixed-use towers with shops, offices and homes stacked floor by floor. Houses and duplexes are part of the free game; townhouses, apartment blocks and towers come with the full game. Pick the target market, split the effort across structure, interiors, amenities and efficiency, and choose the crew. When the scaffolding comes down, the market grades your building from 1 to 10 and tells you what buyers loved. HIRE A TEAM Architects, engineers, site managers, brokers, property managers and analysts. Idle staff generate research, busy staff level up, and overworked staff lose morale. RESEARCH 39 UPGRADES Unlock bigger renovations, new building types, auctions, better loans and more in the Research Lab. Commercial leasing, investors and every building past the duplex come with the full game. WIN AUCTIONS Bid against hidden rivals for bank sales, often below market value. Put down a deposit, watch the bids climb, and decide how far you will go. SURVIVE THE MARKET Booms and busts move demand and prices. Rates shift, storms damage buildings, and a celebrity tenant can make your name. Keep cash above zero: after a month in the red the creditors sell what covers the debt, and the bank restructures only once. GROW UP Level up from Newcomer to Legend, earn dozens of achievements (14 in Sandbox, 37 with the story, some of them in the full game's chapters), and move from a home office to a storefront agency, a development firm and a corporate HQ (full game). Three difficulty levels, a built-in advisor and a how-to-play guide. The home-office years are free to play: buy, renovate, flip, rent, bid, hire your first employee, research and build houses and duplexes. One purchase unlocks the agency, the firm, the HQ and every building type, forever. No ads, no timers, no accounts, and the game plays offline. Your game stays on your phone.
