Blurt is a soundboard. It comes with a handful of sounds so there is something to press straight away, but the point is the ones you add yourself. Bring in audio you already have — mp3, m4a, wav, aiff, anything your Mac or phone can open, including the audio from a video. Or hold the record button and make the sound yourself. SHAPE IT Every pad has its own chain: a five band equaliser you edit by dragging the curve, a compressor, reverb, echo, chorus and flanger, a noise gate for room recordings, pitch and speed, and reverse. Fourteen presets — robot, chipmunk, cathedral, telephone and more — set the whole thing in one tap if you would rather not fiddle. Everything is live — move a slider while a pad is sounding and you hear it change. HIT IT Pads fire the instant you touch them. Set one to hold-to-play, another to loop, put two in a choke group so they cut each other off. On a Mac, the number row and QWERTY play the board like a sampler, and a menu bar item fires a pad without bringing the window forward. EVERYWHERE The same boards on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, each laid out for the screen it is on rather than scaled to fit. Put your favourites on your wrist, on the Home Screen, in Control Centre, or on a watch face complication. Sync over iCloud if you want them on every device. No ads. No account. Nothing collected about you — there is no network code in the app at all. Three optional tips in Settings if you feel like it, and nothing locked behind them.
