Kerotakis
Read full descriptionHide full description
Kerotakis is a virtual chemistry laboratory that computes real chemistry. Drag reagents onto drawn glassware and a real aqueous-equilibrium solver answers. Nothing in it is a lookup table: every number comes out of a thermodynamic database at run time, which means the bench can do something a textbook cannot ā show you a model working, and then show you the same model failing. WHAT IT COMPUTES ⢠Dissolution and precipitation against actual solubility limits. Eight moles of salt in a litre of water leaves about 1.9 undissolved, because that is what the equilibrium says. ⢠Acids and bases from charge balance ā strong, weak, polyprotic through every pKa, and buffers that resist acid where plain water crashes. ⢠Titration curves walked with a burette, to the equivalence point and past it. ⢠Gas boundaries you choose: vent to the room, seal the vessel, regulate the pressure, or sweep with nitrogen. Pressure, volume, energy and the mass balance all answer to the constraint. ⢠Heats of reaction that move the thermometer, so calcium chloride is a hot pack and potassium chloride a cold one. ⢠The activity series decided by Nernst over computed potentials ā including the refusals, like copper shrugging off acid. ⢠Separations: filter a precipitate off, evaporate a brine to crystals, distil a mixture. THREE LEVELS, ONE SIMULATION A register dial re-tells any result at the depth you want. Level one is what you would see: it went cloudy, a white solid settled. Level two adds the measurements. Level three shows every species, activity and coefficient behind the answer ā the same numbers, never a different simulation. Every result carries where it came from, and the app says "unassessed" rather than implying safe when nobody has checked. OFFLINE, ALWAYS The solver, the thermodynamic databases and the whole lesson library are inside the app. It makes no network requests, has no account, and collects nothing whatsoever. It works with the network switched off. Built on IPhreeqc from the U.S. Geological Survey. Kerotakis is free software; the source is at github.com/CrispStrobe/kerotakis.
Kimiya

Kimiya is a real chemistry laboratory in your hand. Put any of the 118 elements and hundreds of compounds into a beaker, flask or test tube. Add water, heat, light or electricity. Then watch: bubbles rise, solutions change colour, precipitates settle, metals burn with their own flame colours, and the balanced equation appears with the energy released or absorbed. EVERY ELEMENT, IN 3D ⢠The full periodic table with animated Bohr models ⢠Atomic mass, electronegativity, density, melting and boiling points, electron configuration, oxidation states, discovery and uses ⢠Flame-test colours for every metal that has one A LAB THAT UNDERSTANDS CHEMISTRY ⢠More than 100 curated textbook reactions with the observations you would actually see ⢠A rule engine for everything else: ionic synthesis, the activity series, solubility rules, neutralisation, combustion, thermal decomposition, electrolysis and dissolution ⢠Exact equation balancing and reaction enthalpy from standard formation data ⢠Temperature and pH readouts, safety notes, and a clear explanation when nothing happens LEARN ⢠A searchable reaction library you can run with one tap ⢠Quizzes on symbols, equations, reaction types, colours and energy ⢠A molar-mass calculator and a bilingual glossary KIMIYA PRO (one-time purchase) ⢠AR: place the bench on your table ⢠Electrolysis cell, spectroscope, round-bottom flask, thermometer and pH meter ⢠3D ball-and-stick molecule viewer for every product ⢠Stoichiometry: limiting reagent and theoretical yield ⢠Lab notebook to save and replay experiments ⢠Timed expert quiz Fully in English and Arabic with true right-to-left layout. No account needed. The free version shows ads; Kimiya Pro removes them. Kimiya is an educational simulation. Never attempt these experiments outside a supervised laboratory.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Kerotakis at none against Kimiya's 1. Kerotakis also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
