taeppl.mov isn't a filter. It's a camcorder. Every recording runs through live tape-era degradation — tracking artifacts, wobble, and signal drift, happening as you shoot, not applied after the fact. Play it back through the CRT mode and it looks like it's coming off an old television, not off your phone. There's no traditional editing — no trimming, no cutting, no rearranging clips. But you can do what a real camcorder always let you do: rewind into the middle of a take and record right over it. Drop a 10-second clip into the middle of a minute-long recording and it overwrites what was there, tape-style — no undo, no safety net, just the next take living where the old one used to be. Every recording has a hard length limit, like a real tape running out. When it's done, it's done — no infinite scroll, no bottomless camera roll, just a tape that ends. taeppl.mov is the video sibling to taeppl.wav — same honesty, same constraints, same belief that limitations make something feel like a real memory instead of just more footage. Record. Overwrite. Let it be a tape.

YOUR CONTROL • A dial-based shooting interface: one scroll wheel drives exposure, aperture, focal length and aspect ratio. • Aperture dial with depth-of-field rendering. • Focal length presets pinned to your iPhone's real lenses. • Mirrorless-style autofocus: a persistent AF box, tap to move it, AF lock to recompose. • Grid and level overlays when you want them, nothing when you don't. YOUR LOOK • Built-in film-inspired looks, from warm evening color to cool dusk tones and true monochrome + Natural for a clean, untouched capture. • Every look is tunable: grain, halation, vignette, clarity and color temperature. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no ads, everything happens on your device. Open the camera straight from control center or lock screen with shortcut extension.
