Every day Huejoner picks one color and sends you out to find it. The hunt is simple. Open the app and you see tonight's target glowing in the ring: a single hue with a name like Neon Tangerine or Electric Azure. Your job is to find that color somewhere around you, in a jacket, a sign, a wall, a piece of fruit, and lock it in through the camera. Point the phone at what you found and the reticle reads the color under it in real time. You see the match climb as you get closer to the target. Tap SNARE when it looks right. A match of 70 percent or better counts as caught and keeps your streak alive. Land 95 percent and you get a Dead Eye. Missing the target is not wasted. Every bright, saturated color you snare lights up one of the 360 tubes on the spectrum wheel, so a bad guess still leaves something glowing behind. The wheel is the long game: 360 tubes, twelve color families, and most people take a very long time to fill it. Tap any tube to see when you lit it and how close the match was. After 8 PM a rare night hue starts to prowl. Six phantom colors rotate and each one fades again at 6 AM, so catching them means going out after dark. You switch between the daily target and the night hue right inside the hunt. There is also Free Scan. No target, no scoring, just point at anything and the app tells you what color it is, with its name and its exact code. Save the ones you like and keep a small pocket of colors you found yourself. Twenty trophies wait on Trophy Street, from your first snare to the full circle of 360 tubes. Three neon schemes let you repaint the whole app. If you want a nudge, you can turn on a daily ping when the fresh hue drops and a reminder in the evening when your tube is still dark. Huejoner works best when you actually go somewhere. The colors are out there already. You just have not been looking.

About

Neon Shutter

Features

Neon Shutter is a companion for photographing cities after dark. Every evening the app gives you one brief. It might ask you to find a shop sign with a dead letter, to shoot a puddle until the reflection reads sharper than the street, or to leave half the frame completely empty. Each brief comes with a small constraint attached, so you have to think before you press the shutter instead of taking the same picture you took last week. The camera shows you the finished picture while you are still framing it. Five lenses are included, each with its own character: Cyber, Toxic, Emerald, Acid and Lime. Two sliders let you decide how far to push the colour and how much the highlights bloom. What you see on screen is what you get. After every shot you get a short read on the frame. It looks at where the weight of the picture sits, how bright it came out, how much separation there is between light and shadow, and how much saturated colour is in it. Then it tells you in plain words what is working and what is not. You can keep the frame or throw it away and try again. Frames you keep go into your journal along with the lens you used, the result and any note you want to write. You can look back at what you shot on a particular night, filter by lens, and send anything you like to your photo library. There is a streak that counts consecutive nights you shot something, and a set of badges for things like using every lens, finishing your first brief or shooting after midnight. If you would rather work against a clock, you can start a timed sprint and see how good a picture you can make before it runs out. You choose which kinds of subject you want briefs about, and what time of night to be reminded. If you would rather not be reminded at all, that works too. Neon Shutter will not make you a better photographer on its own. It just gives you a reason to go out and a small problem to solve when you get there.
