Is that event shift worth more than the shift you already have? MoonlightJob answers before you say yes. It finds the games, concerts and shows near you this week, and for each one works out what the work would leave you per hour after the trip there and back, your gas and car upkeep, your transit fare and parking you enter. Then it sets that against your regular shift, a day off, or what you usually make. WHAT YOU SEE - Tonight: pick when you're free and get one answer, with a bar showing what you'd keep after the trip. - My shifts: your week as seven bars, the best pay per hour each day. Tap a day for its events and the best work that fits. Add a shift you found in four fields and see what it would leave you as you type. - Events: a map and list of what's on within your search radius, with real drive or transit times. Switch to Work for event staff (ushers, concessions, security, cleanup, parking) at typical pay for your area, and driving after the crowd lets out. - Me: your pay, your costs, your search radius and what happens to your data. NEW IN 1.1 - Four tabs: Tonight, My shifts, Events and Me. - Shown, not told: bars for the money, your time and your week, with where each number comes from one tap away. - Add a shift in four fields. - A three-screen setup. NUMBERS YOU CAN TRACE - Typical pay comes from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics wage survey for your metro area or state, or the local minimum wage where that is higher, read on the day of the event. It's marked as an estimate, not an offer. - Travel times come from real routes, and the app says so when it has to estimate one. Gas is the US Energy Information Administration's weekly average for your area unless you type your own price. - When nobody publishes the pay, as with rideshare driving, Moonlight doesn't guess. It shows what you'd need to make per hour for the work to be worth it. - Log what you actually made after a night, and next time Moonlight uses your own numbers. FROM ANY LISTING Found a shift in another app or on a web page? Share it to Moonlight from the share sheet. It reads only what the listing states and leaves the rest for you to fill in. RUN EVENTS? POST THEM Bars, venues, markets and teams can post the events they run, as they happen, and say whether they need staff and at what rate. Workers nearby see the post marked as yours. Every new organizer is checked before anything they post goes public, and every post can be reported. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE Finding work needs no account and no sign-in. No ads, no tracking. Your job, your shifts and what you made stay on your phone. Location is optional: type a US city or ZIP instead. Organizers give a name and a way to reach them, which workers see on a post that is hiring. GOOD TO KNOW - Covers the 50 states and DC. - Moonlight doesn't hire anyone. The employer or organizer decides who works. - Busy driving hours are shown in Chicago only, from the city's published trip data. - For adults 18 and over. This site provides applications using data that has been modified for use from its original source, www.cityofchicago.org, the official website of the City of Chicago.
