Practice American English on your iPhone, with on-device sound checks and no account. Choose one sound group from the Sound to practice dropdown. The 20 American English groups include TH, V / F, L vs R, American R, Pete / pit / pet / Pat / pot, food / foot, Schwa / cup, and SH / CH. Each group explains whether it is Checked by the model or Partly checked. Pick a topic and an Easy, Medium, or Hard level. Medium is the starting level. Generated and library sentences include your chosen sound. You can also choose Your own and type or paste an English passage of up to 80 words and 800 characters; words outside the dictionary are listed as not checked. Listen to the example, then record a take of up to 120 seconds. The result card starts with a verdict for your chosen sound group. Also heard lists every other sound difference the model reported. On the Sounds heard line, differing symbols are red and underlined. Full report: all sounds and mismatches opens automatically, with one line per word that needs review, expected and heard sounds, and question marks for sounds the model could not judge clearly. These are model estimates. The app can miss or mishear sounds, and some groups are only partly checked. It is a practice tool, not a pronunciation certification or a guarantee of error detection. Practice works offline with the bundled sound model and sentence library. No account, subscription, or developer API key is needed. Audio is processed on your iPhone and is not uploaded or saved as recordings. Recent practice stays on your phone and can be deleted in Settings. History from the previous sound engine does not contribute to new pattern feedback. Fresh AI sentences require a compatible iPhone with iOS 26 or later, Apple Intelligence enabled, and its on-device model ready. Initial Apple model and voice downloads can require internet access. The library remains available when AI generation is unavailable. Listen uses an installed American English system voice. A Premium voice is optional and can be downloaded in iPhone Settings.

About

Ankipan

Features

Ankipan is a flashcard app built the way an iPhone app should be: a stack of cards you flip and swipe, with a serious spaced‑repetition scheduler doing the remembering. **Study by swiping** Cards sit in a pile. Tap to flip, swipe right for Again, left for Good, up for Easy. Undo is one tap away. A session ends with a small recap you can share. **Answer the way that fits** A card can simply flip, or ask you to type the answer, say it aloud, or pick it from four options drawn from your own deck. Spoken answers are matched by reading, so kanji and kana of the same word both count. **Hear it** Speech fields are read aloud in their language, and a word can be pronounced through its reading column so it always comes out right. **Decks are tables** Every deck is a simple table: fields you name, card kinds you choose — which fields are shown, which are revealed, how you answer. Start from a template, import a CSV/TSV from Files, Numbers or Sheets, or type rows yourself. Edit any deck later and give it an icon. **Or describe one** On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, write a sentence — "50 everyday Spanish verbs with an example sentence" — and Ankipan proposes the fields and fills the rows on‑device. Everything it makes is editable. **Scheduling that remembers for you** Reviews are scheduled with FSRS‑6, the modern open‑source spaced‑repetition algorithm: fewer reviews, better retention, no settings to tune.
