Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Explore Troy at free against BringFido's free with in-app purchases. Explore Troy also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). BringFido's advantage is ratings volume (46K vs 2) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for BringFido against 5.0 for Explore Troy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BringFido has 46K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
BringFido ships an update every 3 weeks, Explore Troy every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
